Behind a complete game shutout from Kyle Sleeth and five home runs from five different Deacons, the fifth-ranked Wake Forest baseball team hammered visiting Maryland 19-0 on Friday at Hooks Stadium. Wake Forest (31-6, 12-3 ACC) opened the floodgates with 11 runs in the fourth inning, highlighted three-run homers from Jamie D'Antona and Ryder Mathias and a solo home run from Ryan Hubbard. The 11 runs were the most in a single inning this season and tied for third most in school history. In the frame, the Deacs sent 15 batters to the plate and had 10 hits. Meanwhile, Sleeth (8-0) was masterful on the mound, scattering six hits with nine strikeouts. It was the second complete game of his career, the first shutout. Sleeth dropped his season ERA to 2.99. Mathias and Ben Ingold each went 4-for-6 with a homer and four RBI, career-highs in all categories for both players. It was Ingold's first career home run. Nick Blue went 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI and a career-high four stolen bases, the most thefts in a single game by a Deacon since Billy Masse did it in 1988. Ingold and Steve LeFaivre homered in the seventh as the Deacons put up six more runs. In all, Wake Forest hit five home runs, the highest single game total since May 10, 2000 at Old Dominion. It was Wake Forest's first shutout since April 22, 2000, when the Deacs whitewashed Maryland, 12-0. Friday's 19-run margin of victory was Wake Forest's highest in an ACC game since 2000 when the Deacons beat Georgia Tech 22-1 in Atlanta. Steve Schmoll (1-5) took the loss for Maryland. The lone bright spot was third baseman Anthony Buffone who had three hits for the Terps who dropped to 24-15 overall, 2-11 in the ACC.

NOTE: I will be doing the play-by-play of tonight's Georgia Tech/Florida State game on the Ga Tech board. It will start immediately!
