Nope, no patterns anywhere to justify profiling! So, to ensure we
Americans never offend anyone, particularly
fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer
be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches
of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper
identification, Secret Service agents who are members of the President's
security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal
hips, and Medal of Honor winning former Governors.

You know damn well profiling isn't an exact science. Terrorists come in all colors and of all religious persuasions. Look at Ireland for an example of a part of the world where Muslim fanatics are not to blame for horrific terrorist activities.

Just like anyone else I take notice of shifty looking mother[]ers, be they arab, asian, black, white, pink, blue, whatever. However, a formalized system of profiling is not the answer.

I would hesitate to call Tim McVeigh a "Christian" -- and I don't believe he cited any religious reasons for the Oklahoma bombing (although I could be wrong).

But, I agree with LK on the issue of profiling....

I read "American Terrorist: Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City Bombing" by Lou Michel and Dan Herbeck. McVeigh was not a deeply religious man, just your basic sociopath. He blamed the government for Ruby Ridge and Waco and decided to punish the government for them.

I don't like profiling, but understand why it exists. Fear makes good people make bad decisions.

McVeigh indeed considered himself a believer in the Christian faith and was a member of a white-supremecist neo-nazi Christian organization at the time of the bombing. He may not be considered a Christian by other Christians, who use the cop out of saying "no true Christian would do those things."

Adolf Hitler was a Christian as well.

You know, the more I think about it the more I do see a connection between all of these terrorist acts over the years. They are all perpetrated by people of varying faiths.

LK: I never heard the McVeigh called himself a Christian, but he certainly didn't cite religious beliefs as his motive for the bombing.

I would really be careful not to assume that white supremist groups are "Christian groups." Even those neo-Nazi groups that spout hatred for Jews don't necessarily have to be Christians that don't like Jews -- they are more likely just people that don't like Jews. I never hear anything about them doing a little church service before they go bomb something.

Also, I personally believe that calling Adolph Hitler a "Christian" is like calling Osama bin Laden a "Muslim." It's a slap in the face of true members of that religion who aren't using a certain religion as a front to get people to do their dirty work.

The "cop out" argument that you mentioned has more credence that you think it does. Only, I will say that it doesn't just apply to Christianity -- it applies to members of all faiths that are maligned by the crazies of the world.

Calling non-muslims and non-Jews "Christians" is as crazy as calling me White just because my skin is of a lighter pigmentation...

My family is Greek but there is no choice for that on any of those form that request your race.

Christainity has MANY MANY MANY demoninations and fractions... Many a misjustice have been done under the guise of Christianity.

So just because someone claims to be a Christain does not mean they are the same 'Type' of Christain I would classify myself as being.

I'm not a big fan of the Catholic Religion but they call themselves Christains...

But we haev different core beliefs...
