There are other ways to alleviate global warming. One might be alternative energy sources. This would have other added benefits as well. Some alternative energy, some conservation, who knows...or we can tinker with our ecosystems without understanding the effects.

I don't wear birkinstocks(not that there's anything wrong with that!). It just seems obvious that there are problems with our reliance on fossil fuels(global warming, reliance on oppressive regimes, supply problems, pollution). We have technology emerging to lessen our reliance. It seems simple to me. To do otherwise is just being shortsighted, and gluttonous.

I'm no expert on alternative energy, but I have read some articles on the possibilities. It could be as simple as moving towards hybrid cars, more mass transit(I'm proud to say the mass transit system in my city is a great success story. As a matter of fact, more people don't own cars than do.) or cars that get better mileage. I don't advocate moving totally off oil, but slowing consumption shouldn't be a problem. We did it after the '70's crisis, then we forgot.

There are also sources such as wind, hydrogen(by product is H20), flyweels, solar, natural gas, and yes even chicken excrement. I'm sure there are many others I'm unaware of. There have been some great artiles about this in MIT's Technology Review Magazine...unfortunately you need a subscription to read the online edition.

Help the environment, renew fossil fuel sources, reduce American dependence on Middle East exports of oil. Sounds good to me!
