CLASSICS Returns on Fox Sports Net July 13
One-Hour Versions of Pivotal ACC and SEC Games Air Throughout Summer Months
July 12, 2002
As college football fans across the South anxiously await the season-opening kickoffs for their favorite teams, Fox Sports Net again delivers, beginning July 13 - condensed versions of classic Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference games, telecast by Jefferson Pilot Sports during the past two decades.
The 2002 edition of COLLEGE FLASH CLASSICS - one-hour capsules of these great Southern football battles - begins with the greatest comeback in NCAA Division I-A football history. In that game, 11/10/84 at Miami's Orange Bowl, the Maryland Terrapins overcame a 31-0 halftime deficit to upset the sixth-ranked Hurricanes and All-American quarterback Bernie Kosar, 42-40.
These 20, one-hour COLLEGE FLASH CLASSICS shows are highlighted with game- and personally-related trivia from the lives of the players, presented in Fox Sports Net's unique visual style. The trivia has been updated from last summers debut airing of these classic matchups.
Veteran FSN announcer Bob Rathbun escorts viewers through the ACC games, while the network's SEC voice, Dave Neal, narrates those clashes. Rathbun is FSN's MLB Atlanta Braves, NBA Atlanta Hawks and college football play-by-play voice; Neal is host of the network's live, weekly SEC-TV program, and he calls play-by-play for FSN's SEC basketball and baseball telecasts.
