It seems fairly obvious that we are moving towards an invasion of Iraq if they do not allow weapons inspectors in...I am personally of the opinion that we should have finished him off during the Gulf War, and the longer we leave him in power he could become a HUGE danger to not only destabilizing the middle east, but also to attacking us here as he seems to be on the verge of nuclear weaponry.

Thoughts? Opinions? Should we go in now? Give him more chances (to blatantly ignore us)?

As did papa bush BDP...

I think we look back at 20 years of people who should have taken out Saddamn but didn't for various reasons.

My theory, and that's just what it is, is that the ouster of Saddamn will come once the election campaigns for the 2004 elections kick off. I don't hold it against Bush if he does that because politics is a game you have to play.

And people who throw out that whole "Saddmn will bring nothing but destabilization to the middle east" talking point about why we need to go get him are completely missing the point. We need to get him so the gas I put in my car doesn't cost $1.50. We need to get him because our reliance on foreign oil mandates that we control the political climate in Iraq to ensure a steady flow of cheap oil into this country.

BPD - I think we both want the same thing here. I think I have a more cynical view of the timetable though. If we were really serious about taking him out now we would do so, and we wouldn't send Rumsfeld on the news talking about how we are going to get Saddamn in the future.

Good points! I think an atomic bomb laced with napalm would do the trick. You know what Hiroshima and Baghdad have in common?

LK: You remind me of something -- as much as you probably don't like George Bush, Sr., you have to admit that it was genius to call him "Saddamn" all the time....
