When I was in junior high school I had an English teacher that gave our class a list of words and told us to mark each one as postive, negative or neutral. After the "test" she told us every word should be marked neutral, since words each have their own meaning to every individual. Therefore, a word can't be definitively positive or negative.
Here's a list of some words that are positive and negative to me;
POSITVE- family, friends, hope, church, vacation, forgiveness, peace, sunrise, music and laughter
NEGATIVE- war, cruelty, starvation, hypocracy, abuse, poverty, politicians, bully, greed and arrogance
