As a few of you know I am a Dispatcher. The worse has happened, we lost a wonderful Deputy in a horrible automobile accident. This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to deal with in my life. I never dreamed this would happen while I was working. If everyone could just say a lil prayer for me and my co-workers, I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Noley

One thing we always faught about was football... I wish he could see this, GO GATORS!!!!

Noley, you and all his coworkers, friends, and family have our prayers. We take for granted sometimes how much Police Officers put on the line every single day of their lives, you are truly special people and losses like this are tragic. He is in a better place now, may you find the strength you need to deal with this and you have the support of all of us here to help when your strength falters.

Rest In Peace Deputy Davis.

Noley: I could make this post telling you to take care and that you have all our thoughts and prayers...but you already know you do--I thought that this story I had stumbled on this morning might help give you some peace...

When God Made Police Officers

When the Lord was creating police officers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared and said, "You've done a lot of fiddling around on that one."

And the Lord said, "Have you read the specs on this order? A police officer has to be able to run five miles through alleys in the dark, scale walls, enter homes the health inspector wouldn't touch and not wrinkle his uniform."

" He has to be able to sit in an undercover car all day on a stakeout, cover a homicide that night, canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and testify in court the next day."

" He has to be in top physical condition at all times, running on black coffee and half-eaten meals. And he has to have six pairs of hands."

The angel shook her head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands... no way."

" It's not the hands that are causing me problems," said the Lord. "It's the three pairs of eyes an officer has to have."

"That's on the standard model?' asked the angel.

The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through a bulge in a pocket before he asks May I see what's it there, sir?' when he already knows what it is and wishes he had taken an accounting job. Another pair here in the side of his head for his partner's safety. And another pair of eyes in the front that can look reassuringly at a bleeding victim and say, You'll be all right, ma'am', when he knows it isn't so."

" Lord," said the angel, touching His sleeve, "rest and work on this tomorrow."

" I can't," said the Lord. "I already have a model that can talk a 250 pound drunk into a patrol car without incident and feed a family of five on a civil service paycheck."

The angel circled the model of the peace officer very slowly. "Can it think?", she asked.

"You bet," said the Lord. "It can tell you the elements of a hundred crimes; recite Miranda warnings in its sleep; detain, investigate, search and arrest a gang member in less time than it takes five learned judges to debate the legality of the stop... and still it keeps its sense of humor. This officer also has phenomenal personal control. He can deal with crime scenes painted in Hell, coax a confession from a child abuser, comfort a murder victim's family and then read in the daily newspaper how law enforcement isn't sensitive to the rights of criminal suspects."

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek of the peace officer. "There's a leak", she pronounced. "I told you that you were trying to put too much into this model."

" That's not a leak," said the Lord. "It's a tear."

" What's the tear for?", asked the angel.

"It's for bottled-up emotions, for fallen comrades, for commitment to that funny piece of cloth called the American flag, for justice."

" You're a genius," said the angel.

The Lord looked somber. "I didn't put the tear there.", He said.

Sarah, that was a great story, I cried.
Noley I am so sorry about the deputy but you know that, and you know that everyone, you, his family, his friends, and him are all in my prayers.
I think Drunkterp is right, we do take for granted that every day police officer's put their lives on the line for the safety of us and everyone else. I'm slowly learning that, and it began two months ago before the tornado when a kid from the rescue squad came into teh store telling me he had just gotten back from his third of the week, this one being that of a firefighter. I know it's not the same, and I didn't suffer the loss, but I do know that that was when I started realizing how much police officers,EMT's and Firefighter's put their lives on the line for us everyday. More so Police Officer's than the others. Ok I'm gonna shut up now. If you need to talk Noley you know where to find me.

Noley... I opened this thread about ten minutes after hearing on the radio that an animal here in Maryland was just sentenced to death for killing two officers here last year.

The "crime" involved? The officers knocked on his door to ask him to turn down his stereo because several neighbors had called in a noise complaint. Without even answering the door, he blew both officers away, right on the doorstep.

Sadly, we live in a society that seems to be developing less and less respect for authority of any kind. Those that work hard to try to restore values long-ago forgotten are called zealots.

Prayers said...
