Life jackets are good.

There weren't enough of them on the Lusitania. Only took 18 minutes for that ship to go down <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Nothing could help the people aboard the Titanic except the Carpathia coming to their rescue. Life jackets were useless in water that cold. That ship took 2 plus hours to go down. With plenty of lifeboats, so many more people would have survived (except those in the flooded boiler rooms and the people sleeping in rooms at the point of impact.

The Lusitania was torpedoed and sank in 18 minutes. The ships list was so severe that the boat couldn't be lowered evenly so hundreds were dumped into the Irish Sea, right out of the lifeboats that should have saved them. Then the lifeboat davits released and collapsed on their heads.

With more life jackets, people could have jumped right off and swam away from the ship. But there wasn't even enough time to be logical.

Sunk by a U-boat <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
