Police took a gun away from Georgia Tech defensive end Greg Gathers at his dormitory room early Sunday morning and sent him to Grady Memorial Hospital for observation.

Gathers was not arrested, nor was he charged with a crime, Tech spokeswoman Allison George said Wednesday.

Sometime after 4 a.m. Sunday, campus police responding to a disturbance found Gathers "visibly upset and talking very loudly," a police document shows.

Tech officials would give no other details of the incident but said it was a result of an adverse reaction to medication Gathers has been taking to treat a kidney disorder. He remains under a physician's care, George said. He was no longer at Grady by Wednesday afternoon."

Gotta feel for this... I dunno how they'll take the field in Chapel Hill Saturday....

OH MAN...I am glad the got to gathers before anything bad happened. Gotta feel for that kid <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" /> Who knows what he was thinking...

Lets hope they get his meds straight and all is well.

Poor guy, I really hope this doesn't turn out to be a consistent thing with the drugs he is on
