16 Blocks....
I watched this movie the other night, and it struck me that this "Mos Def" guy was extremely annoying. I mean the guys voice was the equivalent to fingernails on a chalkboard while Roseanne Barr sings the National Anthem. I take it this guy is some sort of famous rapper or something like that. Who buys the guys stuff?

I f*cking love Mos! He's not a famous rapper, rapper doesn't do him justice. Since when does a voice make an actor? He's a poet, a thespian a philosophical revolutionary , a role model, he defines Renaissance Man. Check out the film Something the Lord Made. The insight and knowledge he expunges on his records is unparralled to any "rapper" today. They should be teaching his albums in High School classes.

lol, he is/was. he was part of blackstar, a duo containing himself and talib kweli. we're all still hoping that they do another album together. i agree though, his voice on the big screen is pretty annoying. he was in the italian job.

By the way, I loved The Italian Job. I didn't realize that was him. OK, so he's an actor first and rapper 2nd. His filmography is pretty good.

If you call what's out there today being a rapper, then he's not. He doesn't even do hip hop anymore. His newest album "the New Danger" is more of a rock album. But that's besides the point. You're getting caught up in his voice? I hate it when people judge somebody by their voice. A majority of people hail Bobby Dylan as the best of all time, and they get past his voice just fine. Not comparing the two, just saying.

Relax Ziggy, yes I found his voice extremely annoying in 16 Blocks, but I didn't have the same reaction to him in other movies that he has been in (that I didn't know about). I see that he has worked with De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, and some other real rap groups. Now those groups were amazing. They didn't just sample somebody else's music and add some retarded rhyme. That was back when I liked rap, before the gansta stuff really took off.
By the way, I don't like Bob Dylan at all.

lmfao You tell me to relax and then refuse to acknowledge the genius of Bob Dylan? ;-) Yes, Mos is def hip hop and not rap, I find a difference. Tribe was the sh!t. And for the record, I haven't seen 16 blocks.
