While inscribed on my wallet is "Broke *** Motherf*cker," I'd be absolutely broke if I lived in the City. If Arcade Fire will probably skip us once again and instead play in Columbus. Free Energy and Titus Andronicus in September though. That should be odd and fun. You heard the new Arcade yet?

yeah i enjoy it, but i never used to listen to that type of music before, so i can't compare it to funeral or neon bible

Have you heard both Funeral and Neon Bible? I fell in love with Funeral. And am just starting to reappreciate it's haunting beauty. Neon Bible offers the rare sophomore success. And was my favorite album of aught 7. And, IMHO, it's their best.

Saw Jack Johnson the other week. Pretty legit - sounds better in concert than he does on his CDs.

RE: Concerts
05-bump

Went and saw Lissie last Saturday. Loved her, I just wish she had some more material to play. Hated the venue (The Loft, part of a "music complex" so you get sound bleeding in from the other 2 venues, lots of youngsters and their old parents/chaperones, no seats, no rake to the floor, etc.). There were also some "woo girls" there, who were drunk and dancing on each other as slowly and seductively as you can while hammered. If it weren't for their one arm raised straight up while tousling their hair and blocking my view for half the show I'd have been OK with it.

Going to see The Features (my favorite band) Sat. night at The EARL (smaller restaurant/lounge in East Atlanta). So I should enjoy it a lot more.

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals will be the last weekend of the month, either in Nashville, or Atlanta.

Went and saw Cold War Kids and GIVERS at the Buckhead Theater in Atlanta. It was a pretty eventful show.

GIVERS were great. Loads of energy and the crowd showed up in time for them. It was a good pairing of bands.

RIGHT before CWK went on, the power goes out. Many even thought the lights were dimming and the house music was fading out for the headliner to go on. But it soon started to get hot in there. CWK's frontman came out and addressed the crowd, and somehow they had power for the PAs and amps and monitor setup, but not the lights or FOH sound board. They lit a bunch of candles and played what they could. It had its own interesting ambiance and worked well with CWK's new stuff (their old stuff, not so much). 4 songs into that the power came back, and they spent 5 min. or so setting back up. The set list was totally shot now, and they got to play through a bunch of deeper cuts, skipped walking off for an encore and just played it without the whole "we're leaving now!!! j/k" thing that everyone does.

It was interesting to watch every member of the bands' support staffs running around setting up and tearing down and setting up trying to get things to work. I'm sure they didn't expect the first show of their tour to go like this, but it all worked out in the end. I'd have rather it all have been candle lit, or all been normal. Something felt missing from both though, once you had heard the other. They left me wanting more/something else, but not really disappointed.

My favorite concert had to be the Poverty Neck Hillbillies out of Greene County PA. They was a one hit wonder on the national scene though.

RE: Concerts
saw Alberta Cross, Givers and Portugal the Man last night. Excellent show that got better with each band. This was the 2nd time I'd seen (going to see them for a 3rd tomorrow) and they didn't disappoint. Portugal the Man was excellent, just as awesome as everyone said they'd be. They even broke out into an impromptu, albeit shortened, version of Oasis' "Don't Go Away." It was a great band covering an amazing song by one of my favorite bands of all time. So cool.

So far this week I've seen Viva Brother, We Are Augustines, Alberta Cross, Givers and Portugal the Man. Tonight i'm supposed to see Electric Guest, We Barbarians and Stone Foxes. Tomorrow i'm going for Free Energy, Givers and Gotye

BUMP

Saw Snow Patrol and Ed Sheeran the other night. It's probably my "biggest act" that I've gone to see since MMJ back in August/Sept. Snow Patrol was as good as always (even with every song sounding the same) and they were a bit looser than I've seen them in the past. Joking around a lot, and laughing off every scuff-up.

Ed Sheeran's use of a looper was distasteful at first (like it always is to me) but he owned it, and made it work for him when it came to his crowd interaction. He's big in Europe, but I'm don't believe he has the same ceiling here. His songs appeal to the 16-23 y/o girl and that's who I saw (and heard) screaming for him.

dude, i was not prepared for the dance party that broke out amongst the kids who all looked like they were still in college. They knew every word to every song. I know a lot about indie music, but i had no idea these guys put out an album a couple years ago. My question, how did these kids know when I didn't? In the end I liked them, but i like We Barbarians way more. I'm not a dance party kind of guy

Roger Waters is doing The Wall tour and I'm thinking about taking the wife to Houston to see him. We saw him twice on his Dark Side Of The Moon tour and I saw The Wall concert live in Long Island in '80. Loved it.

I saw his The Wall show in Washington, DC on 10-10-10. It was great. I already have tickets for this year's tour.

Saw his "Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" and "Radio KAOS" tours as well.
