Here's Brett Dennen's page. Really reminds me of a young Paul Simon. "Ain't no Reason," is an incredible song.

The Fields
http://www.myspace.com/fieldsband

They have their new album streaming in its entirety. Heres the AMG review:

Quote:The five members of the British band Fields couldn't have planned it this way, but in a single ten-track album, they manage to evoke all of the following bands/artists (and in no particular order): My Bloody Valentine, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis, Radiohead, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Nick Drake, and Cocteau Twins. That may be a potent cocktail of influences, but it's all in balance throughout the eye-opening brew of lush, heavily textured music that spills from Everything Last Winter, the band's spellbinding full-length debut. Acoustic guitars have a special place in the songs of Fields -- before a swirl of synthesizers takes over, they set a deceptively gentle mood. They're the first of many layers in what amounts to a stacked but penetrable sound, one that's made all the more distinctive by the well-balanced male/female harmonies of Nick Peill and Thorunn Antonia. Standout tracks include the opening "Song for the Fields" (from their 7 from the Village EP) and the '70s-tinged "You Don't Need This Song (To Fix Your Broken Heart)."

Thanks, 84. Just listened to the first 3 tracks. Sounding good so far.

I stumbled upon The Whigs tonight. Ironically I saw their logo on television earlier today, not knowing it was for a band (seen below). When I came across it again browsing the music snob corner on Steve Dahl's website, I stopped and gave it a listen.

Anyway, I'm liking it.

I dont think I've posted these guys before either, The National. I was a big fan of their 1st album Alligator, and their follow up Boxer is just as good. Good late night music.

First I thought you were talking about the defunct Afghan Whigs. They rock. Just another olderish band that I've taken a liking too.

Framing Hanley

I caught them as the opening act at the Evan's Blue show I went to.

Kind of a Hawthorne Heights type with more harmonies. Their new album is out 8/7/07, but I bought a copy at the show.

The White Buffalo

It is a one man act and sound like what you'd get if you through Ray Lamontagne, Eddie Vedder and a tough of Neil Diamond in a blender.

This name sounds familiar. Perhaps you all already know him, but this is the first I've really listened to him.
