House rejects security fence at the border
Well, IMHO this is all the ammo Bush and the pro-amnesty folks need to shove amnesty down our throats now. This fence bill failed and failed big. Even the congressmen in AZ voted against it. So, we will have amnesty in the very near future. Our borders will continue to be wide open and all the provisions in the amnesty bill will be unenforceable. We will have 1986 all over again only this time instead of 20 million coming in from 1986 to 2006, there will be 100 million coming in from 2006 to 2026. Anybody besides me think amnesty is a forgone conclusion now? I think Bush will get his way after all.

I am really shocked by this. The house most represents the people (or in my mind it did) and they don't want the fence. Amazing.

Well, the majority of Americans think the fence is a dumb idea.

To be honest, I am against a 700 mile fence too. I want a 2100 mile fence. 04-rock To do it quicker, pay a living wage to the illegals to build it. The first 5000(or whatever the # that are needed) that sign up get a green card and can stay(limited amnesty). The fence will be done in no time. Then we can start on the Canadian side. 02-13-banana

Even Republican Governor of Texas Rick Perry thinks the fence is a dumb idea.

I can't understand why conservatives hate the idea of amnesty. Ronald Reagan granted amnesty to illegal immigrants who had been in the United States before 1982 when he signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
