Senior hurler shares weekly honor with Georgia Tech's David Duncan.

April 23, 2007

Tallahassee, Fla. - Bryan Henry's masterful effort on the mound last Friday in a 4-2 Florida State victory over No. 2 North Carolina earned him ACC Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week accolades. The senior right hander shares the weekly honor with Georgia Tech's David Duncan.

It's the fourth week in a row and the sixth time this season a Seminole student-athlete has been recognized by the conference office. Henry becomes the first Florida State hurler to win Pitcher of the Week honors in 2007.

In a match-up of two of the top pitchers in the league in Henry and UNC's Robert Woodard, the Tallahassee, Fla., native matched his season-high in innings pitched for the third time this season with eight solid innings against North Carolina. Henry allowed just one run on four hits while striking out eight. He started the ball game setting down the first seven Tar Heels that he faced including three on strikeouts, two looking. He threw five innings in which he faced just three batters. Henry and the Seminoles handed Woodard his first loss of the season and just his fourth loss in his career. Henry, a two-time, first-team All-ACC honoree, has now allowed a run or less and has struck out seven or more batters in a game in eight of his 12 starts.

At 10-0, Henry remained perfect on the year as he set a career-high for wins in a season with his tenth against the Tar Heels last Friday evening. He also moved to 5-0 in ACC play. The win was also Henry's second victory in four career starts against North Carolina.

This is Henry's third weekly honor of his career. He nows becomes the third pitcher in FSU history to win ACC Pitcher of the Week honors at least three times joining Paul Wilson (6) and Mike Ziegler (3).

Henry and the Seminoles are back in action this weekend as they travel to Coral Gables to face the University of Miami in a three-game ACC series beginning Friday, April 27.
