Computer Question
So my son has a laptop. It has Windows 2000 and Windows XP on it. The person who gave it to him used 2000. He loaded XP Home on there. Now when he starts the computer it asks him which he would like to use. Is it cool if I just uninstall 2000? I would think it would be OK but I will admit to having less than stellar computer skills. Now, if you are talking about bow hunting or nunchuck skilz..........

RE: Computer Question
You can format the partition in XP home using disk management console. I'm going to assume 2000 is the primary partition. Once you format that partition, you'll probably have to boot into the recovery console in xp and do a fix /mbr.

If you're not comfortable booting XP in recovery mode and running disk repair tools, don't do it.

You should, however, be able to resize the partitions, so that 2000 takes only the bare minimum it needs, and XP has everything else.

RE: Computer Question
My Suggestion is to back up everything onto DVD's or CD's before you do anything. I made the mistake of reformatting the wrong partition to install Ubuntu and wiped everything. I take monthly backups now.

Once you've done that, it looks like your tutorial will work fine. Just make sure your removing the correct (Windows 2000) partition first! Otherwise, you'll have to go through the hassle of restoring everything from your CD's (You can't believe how painfully long that takes... Although it is better than loosing everything completely)

I CAN! my blonde cousin took over my room for a week and decided the best way to procede with using IM is to remove/turn off EVERY firewall, Norton, antispyware thingy I had. when she left I had some many viruses that after days of running antivirus-I finaly had to reformat

I now have a password on my computer for any future visits...
