Saw the Pres today
The pres was at the Food Bank in Richmond today. Our warehouse is right across the street. I was here around 6 this morning and they advance team was there with the dogs checking everything out. By 9 the place was
crawling with city police, secret service folks and a host of other
"official" looking folks. About 9:30 the snipers got out of their
Suburban and readied themselves. Talk about three guys who I would
never mess with! Robocop looking guys. Around 10:30 or so we saw the
motorcade moving up 95 (we can see 95 from where we are). About 3
minutes later there was a huge rumbling as the Harleys came down the
road. The motorcade came rolling through. We say Bush in the second
Suburban. When he left he turned and was facing us and gave us a huge
wave. Cool stuff. The amazing thing was seeing how well protected he
is. There was a Suburban with 5 or 6 shooters in cammo gear. All the
windows and doors were open and they were ready for anything. There
was also another Suburban with the communication gear. I was very
impressed. Not every day you get a wave from the most powerful man on
the planet! Not a big Dub fan but I was impressed by the process.

Yeah, when he came down to Blacksburg earlier this year, the security was intense. I'm surprised that it was actually so easy to get our rifles past security for the convocation, though they inspected parts of them we didn't know was inspectable.

Are you f'n serious? You should know every thing about your rifle. One small mechanism can render the rifle inoperable. Every time I deployed on a commercial airline, we had to remove the entire bolt.

My brother still saluted Clinton when he was in office. He was against everything Clinton stood for, but still maintained the right thing to do, and that is honor your commander in chief.

how about instead of going everyday of your life looking for reasons to badmouth and dis-face our president, you go outside and do something productive.

I served during Clinton's entire presidency. Was deployed a few times during his presidency. Didn't care for his politics, but he was my CinC, elected by the majority of the people. That's all I needed. I voted for Perot in '92 and '96, but never once did I openly disrespect my CinC. I was a volunteer. I didn't get to pick and choose which wars or conflicts I would support.

Yes, because as a cadet, I always need to know the insides and outs of a 1903 Springfield we only use for color guard performances. 01-wingedeagle

Yeah, you should be able to disassemble and reassemble the whole thing is 15 seconds with a blindfold on....03-wink

On a side note, the president stayed at the same hotel that I was at one time in Miami. The security was crazy. They shut down all MIA runways for 1.5 hours just so that Airforce 1 could land and at the hotel one whole floor was sectioned off just for him and secret service, etc.

Gold and Blue and RebelKev

I wish that others would view the presidency as you both do... I feel exactly the same way as you guys do. It doesn't matter who is in the oval office. The President of the United States of America has been and should always be held in a respectful manner. I don't care who is the President, I felt that way with Clinton serving as President.
