We moved it off the main forum. My suggestion... don't read it if you don't want to.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with comparing basketball & football...it's very simple - the two programs are light years apart from each other. What we need to ask ourselves is WHY?

Why can we rebound from the Tic Price years and become as good as we are now in basketball, but we just shouldn't think about football in those terms? Come on...

Because our budget in basketball is about the same as the top programs around 4 to 5 million however our football budget is 6.9 million compared to 30million for TN. That is a big difference. Plus the very top recruits will only go to BCS schools You will never get a Derek Rose to go to a non BCS school in Football. In basketball it doesn't matter because of the tournament you can win the big game. Don't get me wrong I want top 25 teams in both sports but it is alot harder in football. I just think we need to realize there is a difference in the programs.

There is definitely a difference in the programs, because the investment has been made in basketball, and hasn't been made in football. Period. It's harder to accomplish in football, but it still doesn't make it impossible.

If you make a bigger investment, your program will improve. If your program improves, you will get noticed by a BCS conference, and more than likely, will get invited to one after a couple of years of consistent performance. Then you'll start to see those recruits who "will only go to BCS schools."

No one's expecting ut-type money to come raining from the sky, but disparity or no, does that mean we should just be happy with the status quo?

I am just honest. As for the others, well people would not be concerned about this season/direftion of the program if they did not care. If one day everyone is "satisfied" with a season like this, then we are in REAL trouble. Those voicing their concerns in this thread and others, do so because they care and love the Tigers, not because they wish ill will on the program.

I never said I was satified with where we are in football and did say I was happy with how we ended this year vs last year and the start of this year. I talk with Tommy all the time about how we need to win this league and he is very aware of that and is working very hard to reach that goal. But I think we all need to understand the money differences that are out there. For an example if it rains hard we will not be able to use our practice fields for 2 days because they do not drain. We have to go to the Liberty Bowl to practice.

Tommy wasn't happy with where we were last year and he made several changes on the staff. One of the main reasons was recruitng. But sometimes results don't happen in one year.

You folks are just really sad. Would you rather we lost to Rice, SMU and Tulane so our pathetic season would have ended Saturday? These kids went through an awful year and found the strength and determination to finally stop SMU and you actually want more? Nothing would ever make you happy. If you can't be negative about the football team you would probably just sit and cry. What a pathetic bunch of miserables. The soul of this board is dead!!!!!
