RE: Rodriguez To Michigan
that's true he did do a lot for wvu and the be, but the lasting memory i'll have of him was seeing his team just get pounded by pitt while he stood there dumbfounded, costing the wvu and the be of a national championship. rich rod will do well at michigan, but the walk on water comments by nehlen are laughable. the fact nehlen might have helped push rodriguez to michigan, i think would sting the most if i was a wvu alum.

I wonder who will replace him in Morgantown.

RE: Rodriguez To Michigan
Here's a VERY interesting post from a West Virginia board:

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=159&f=250...663387&p=2

Quote:I was told last week that Rich Rod was going to Mich. I was told this last Wednesday after his agent spent 4 hours on the telephone with the Mich AD. Beginning last weekend, after being contacted by the Mich search committee Rich's agent spent hours of the phone all last week with UM.

It came down to Rich coming up with the money to pay his buy out. He was not offered the job nor did he himself speak to UM until Friday when he went to Ohio to find the money to pay the buy out. The buy out is going to drain him and he had to decide if he was going to roll the dice.

Then when he met with Eddie P after the fact, Rich was told NO MORE MONEY from WVU especially from Mylan who was still pissed off from last years Alabama ordeal among other things. In other words, WVU called his bluff. Rich is going to Mich because in some aspects he back himself into a corner with us.

Things that were reported on here were not factual. He decided last night he was accepting the position. He might have leaked he was staying, but he knew he was gone yesterday.

Three names.......... George Henshaw, Jimbo Fisher and Terry Bowden.

If Rod is going from $1.8 million at WVU to only $2.5 million at Michigan, and he has to pay the $4 million buyout himself, he should fire his agent.

Heh, I agree frogman. He would have to last 6 years to make up that $4M. Nothing like 6 years of work just to break even.

If what I read (and posted above) is true, Rodriguez has no one to blame but himself for burning his bridges at West Virginia. I really believe that RR didn't really want to go to Michigan, and leaned towards staying at WVU, and was just trying to get paid. So stupid.

I wouldn't be so quick to laugh, Frank Beamer also had a bad start at Virginia Tech, and look what happened there.

People would have said that Beamer was terrible his first 4 to 6 years at Virginia Tech.

Why did DickRod jump?
Been reading the boards and there seems to be 4 popular notions to why Dick jumped to Meeechigan.

1). The $$$
2). The thought that he can win a MNC easier there.
3). The relationship with the AD has been strained over the years.
4). Dick was guaranteed some things with last years go-around but haven't come to fruition as of yet.

Can anybody elaborate on 3 and 4???

I have my own theories but will keep it to myself.

He figured if he couldn't beat his big rival then he'd rather lose to Ohio State than Pitt. :)

Not sure if there were some 'back-handed' digs in the post. The four items I listed are what I have been reading on WV rivals and scout boards.

I also read where he was angry over fan reaction after the last game.

Your #3 is correct.
Your #4 is incorrect. Renovations are in progress and some almost completed, with future renovations in the works.

RE: Rodriguez To Michigan
Bad day for the BE. A stagnant Michigan program gets the nod over an on the move WVU program. Not sure what RR was thinking. Nehlen? What is he trying to do to his legacy?

This coming from a WVU and Michigan fan. The whole thing stinks.

Number 2 definitely isn't true, he could have won a national title in West Virginia if he hadn't choked it away.
