Sad to see that you are an abator.
Kill the messenger but not the message.
What I am nailing you for is not OWNING the message. You attempted to "disguise" it in a generic post about the Big East (which is a conference, not a single team) and BCS Bowls.
You know why you linked that blog and so does everyone else. So why run from it? Be a man, own up to it, and title the post - USF's Moffitt Suspected of Cheating.
The way you did it was - to put it bluntly - pathetic and weak.
Cheers,
Neil
Sorry you didn't get it, (you usually do).
The AOL Big East Blog had only minor details to the USF situation plus had other articles on other Big East Teams.
I choose that one on purpose since it included all the other info and didn't have all the damaging evidence as say the Tampa Tribune article from earlier today (http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/jan/04/...es-bulls).
Thought this would help lead the topic into a discussion about:
1) Should someone (NCAA, journalists or other organization) re-examine every major football program's academic standards and practices?
2) Should Div I-A Scholarship football players be allowed to take online classes?
3) If online classes are allowed, should every school follow FSU's new requirement that all online course exams be taken in a proctored testing center on campus with ID checks at the door?
4) Prior to this incident, I'm sure some FLA journalist, because of the FSU scandal, was going to investigate every FLA football program online course classwork and how many football players took online courses.
5) Schools are in a Catch-22 as online courses offer HUGE profit margins for institutions since no classroom space needs to be reserved 2-3 days per week and literally hundreds and hundreds of students will pay full tuition to take an "online" course.
Again Neil, I'm surprised you missed that.
KL, I didn't miss anything.
This isn't about the blog containing other Big East material.
Nor was it about what you had hoped to lead the discussion on.
Had you truly wanted that, you could have easily began the post by saying, "This isn't an anti-USF post, but I was wondering considering the situation at FSU and now the potential issue USF may be faced with in the Moffitt incident, what are your thoughts about..."
No, this was an obvious attempt by you to sneak in an article that had the information about Moffitt (the real reason behind creating the post) while disguising it as, "here's a blog about the Big East and BCS Bowls" - in the hopes of having the thread focus on Moffitt's and potentially USF's transgressions without having posters attack you, once again, for your over the top anti-USF bias.
I have no problem with discussing the issues that you say you had hoped the thread would discuss.
Believe it or not, I also have no problem with a UCF fan taking glee from a situation that may cause harm to USF. After all, that's part of the nature of sports rivalries.
I do have a problem with duplicity, especially when it is used in order to try and protect (or in your case - keep from eroding further) image.
And this feeble attempt to try and explain it away after being called on it only continues to make you look weak and pathetic.
Save us all, but mostly yourself, further embarrassment and move on.
Come back in a week or so and begin what should have been the real discussion in earnest.
Sincerely,
Neil
