Stats for the NCAAbbs Folding@Home team (aka Folding@NCAAbbs).
Folding@Home is a project through Stanford that uses your computer's unused cycles to help fold proteins. This furthers the understanding of why proteins misfold, which leads to such diseases as cancer, SARS, mad cow, and Alzheimer's. The idea is to reverse engineer a cure for these diseases. If you're interested in joining, reply and I'll tell you more.

Doesn't matter. You just won't crank out a huge number of points. But you'll still contribute to the project (and our team). Folding@Home only uses the CPU resources that you DON'T use, so you shouldn't experience any slowdown.

I experience slow down all the time and whenever I check my running processes that damn thing is hogging everything.

Yes, but if you look it's running under idle priority. That means it's only using what your system isn't.
Now if you're using Windows XP with, say, 256 MB RAM ... then you're going to be slow no matter what. Folding@Home taking another 5-10 MB of RAM for itself won't help things either, but shouldn't make that much of a difference.

I dunno it sure seems like it slows me down a lot, and I have 512 MB of RAM.

It shouldn't make a difference, but you could always just use the screensaver client, and then it will only run when your screensaver is running ... which is when you're not using the computer. Then it doesn't matter anyway.

The pr0n has officially taken over your CPU.

I knew that was coming as soon as I saw that you had posted on this thread.

What TCP and UDP ports does the program use?
You could throttle those ports down to a smaller percentage of the bandwidth on the network.
There's a handy routine I saw... Let me see... Ah yes...
I/O throttling instructions for Windows @ Microsoft.
For local performance, use a virtual allocation process to control program process priorities...
This should reduce the memory constraints.

Pretty sure it's port 80.
