UNC @ Chapel Hill recruits football players today like they have for 50 years - using their basketball program as bait. They have an edge on us there.We have always recruited at a disadvantage to them because of that and the advent of the BCS made it worse. ECU continues to do more with less but - as our recent pro draft indicated - we are drawing some top tier talent.We are two deep + at all positions right now with Div 1 caliber players.Don't think UNC at Chapel Hill can say that today.

Undergrad at WVU, Master's at Nebraska. And what does where I attended college have to do with ECU/UNC? Try to stay on point. ECU will always have an uphill battle when it comes to UNC. The notion that ECU has a better football heritage than UNC is just absurd. Good luck to your school in the future, but I hope they're never part of the Big East.

Interesting you went to WVU as our strongest support inside the Big East typically comes from WVU people.Hope you can get over this anti-ECU in BE idea as we will be in the Big East one day not that far down the road.

I often wonder about that. WVU already plays ECU as it is, so what does WVU have to gain by having ECU as an equal conference partner? WVU was already getting 2-1s with ECU. That will probably change in the future with your AD's new scheduling philosophy. Playing ECU does nothing for WVU, in my opinion and I wish the series would end.

You need to check your facts here. WVU is not getting 2-1's with ECU. It is a straight up series 1-1. You might just be confused by some of beatings you have given us in Morgantown, I could see how you would mistake it for 2 games.....

Our current series contract is 1 for 1. It started in 2006 and runs through 2009. The series was set up in the following manner:

Looks like after 2009 the series is going to end for a few years, I think there are talks that we may possibly be negotiating a new series that would start up again in 2012.

Pretty sure it's a 2-1. The series was renewed in 2004, with the '04, '05, '07 and '09 games in Morgantown and the '06 and '08 games in Greenville.

The previous series was the game in Charlotte in '99 and the 2-1 with the '00 and '02 games in Morgantown, with '03 in Greenville.

So apparently West Virginia enjoys playing East Carolina a lot, and it's almost straight down the middle, 6 games in WVU and 4 games at ECU.

WVU loves to beat ECU. They're fun whipping boys.
