Mildly surprised they didn't put the Oklahoma game on and yet they put the Marshall game on there even though it's more regional and quite possibly less competitive. Ah well. I like how many times our name is on the list. 02-13-banana

RE: ESPN 2009 Football TV Schedule
The TV networks try to work out in advance the most compelling early season match ups. But as the season progresses they pick TV slots on either a 12 day or 6 day basis. Last year every game was on TV, some of a more regional variety ie Miami, Marshall and Pitt. For games that are on an off night, ie any day thats not Saturday they need to make that call much much further in advance, hence the Marshall game which is on a Friday evening. Unless the team absolutely bombs ala Louisville I would imagine that all our games will be carried again this year with a couple of prime time showings outside of the USF, UofL and Marshall games.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another network pickup the UC/Oklahoma game. it could be one of the better non-conference games this season.

RE: ESPN 2009 Football TV Schedule
I don't see how OU game is going to be a good game if we don't have Mauk at QB.....not saying we'll get blown out by 40 pts. but our two options will be Grutza who can't throw deep meaning no field stretching or D Jones in what would be his third college start (1 w/ ND) playing in a new system....

Our defense would have to be brilliant, keep the game low scoring and hope for long shot.....imo.

Hope I'm wrong here.....

RE: ESPN 2009 Football TV Schedule
I couldn't see starting a thread with this so I'll just throw it in here since it was from a chat with ESPN's college football analyst:

Quote:hotrod, Phoenix: Adam, Break down the Big East this coming year?

Adam Rittenberg: hotrod: It's tough to know what to make of that league. I really liked Cincinnati when I visited practice there last month. Louisville will be better with a more-balanced offense. But West Virginia is clearly the team to beat.

ESPN chat with Rittenberg

I've been hearing UC-Oklahoma is likely going to be an ABC game.

As for that ESPN guy commenting on Louisville, I dont think they will be better than last year. Maybe about the same but not better IMO.

UC Oklahoma might be on ABC but as an afternoon game. ABC carries a Nascarr race during the second week of the college football season. or they did last year at least.

yeah thats what I thought. I think UC OU will be on ABC but in a 3:30 slot. There isn't an abundance of great games on that day.
