Could it be true? Could Guns N' Roses be done with Chinese Democracy, an album it has taken more than a decade to complete? Well, according to NME, Axl Rose has turned in the effort to his label, Geffen Records. ... DragonForce are reportedly in the studio, working on the yet-untitled follow-up to 2006's Inhuman Rampage, which has already been slated for an August 26 release date. Metal File will have more on the effort in the coming weeks. ...

If I were Axel W. Rose, I'd scrap the Chinese Democracy name. After 10 plus years, the whole idea of this record has become a joke. Just put out a record with a different name and move on.

Ditto. A name that sounded cool a decade ago, but now as China becomes ever more Western, kinda loses it's cache. I won't be listening regardless.

Quote:Guns N' Roses / Chinese Democracy (Nov. 25, tentatively)
The transition: Axl Rose, the only founding GNR member still in the band, has been toiling 13 years on this opus, which evolved into an industry punch line (democracy will come to China before Chinese Democracy comes to the marketplace). Repeated delays, the singer's reclusiveness and a revolving roster of bandmates have raised doubts for a successful comeback by one of rock's former giants.
The mission: To prove that the wait was worthwhile and to restore Rose to critical and commercial prominence, a tall order considering Chinese is unlikely to meet impossibly high expectations or recoup recording costs. It may be the most expensive album ever recorded, with some estimates placing the tab at $13 million.
The ammunition: No music or complete track listing has been officially unveiled. While such early hints as Oh My God on the End of Days soundtrack suggested an industrial bent, Rose has promised a complex, stylistically diverse collection. Songs have surfaced live and online over the past few years, including nine recently leaked at antiquiet.com, where frenzied fan feedback ranged from "outstanding" to "horrible" before blogger Kevin "Skwerl" Cogill agreed to remove the tracks. One Chinese-destined song, Shackler's Revenge, will appear on the Rock Band 2 video game this month.

If he's still planning on running with the Chinese Democracy name, how did he miss the marketing genius of releasing the record on 8/8/08?

Does the term Axl Rose mean anything to you? This cd has only been in the recording process for what.... 10+ years?

RE: Chineese Democracy IS on the way: 11/25/08
I heard their new tune on the radio today.
It sounded ok.... Axl's vocals sound "lower" in tone than of his GNR era prime vocals.
I would have to agree the song did sound like some 90's era grunge stuff...but also kind of a modern retro sound. I reserve final judegment till I listen to the whole cd. I think the hype vs reality will give this cd unfair reviews of praise and criticism.

Just got it from Best Buy about 30 minutes ago. Will give it a thurough listen and have feed back.
So far though.... it doesn't have the sound of a record that took this long to come out. And the sound is more like.... the non-traditional stuff off of the Use Your Illusion cds. Its not bad, just not epic. And I think most people will want epicness for a cd that took this long to come out.

RE: Chineese Democracy IS here 11/23/08
After listening to it about 3x tonight....
I like it... and that is ON THE RECORD.
However, my only beef is.... if Axl was really a studio feind on mixing and remixing as nauseum.... then I don't see where that shows in the final product.
I'll try to give a track summary before Thanksgiving
