Flow backwards? The Gulf of Mexico? Or the Gulf Stream?

So, the whole thing flowed backwards? As in out of the gulf? Don't know. When a bigass meteor hit off the Yucatan?

Not necessarily the entire Gulf .... but a sizeable chunk of it.

Sorry, but I need to call BS on this one. While a great story, the trivia question was very poorly worded. The Gulf certainly did NOT "flow backwards." The only body of water flowing backwards was the canal. (But of course the trivia question would have been too easy and much too mundane, I'm sure).

Hey GTS, help me out. I'm not seeing where the entire Gulf flowed backwards. We're talking one lake with an underground mine. That is a very, very, very, VERY small minute part of what flows into the Gulf.

So, you think the canal flowed backwards and the Gulf didn't? So then the lake should be dry to this very day then, yes?

The Gulf flowed backwards in-so-far as it filled the canal and continued to fill the canal as the lake refilled.

Oh, for crying out loud. You're talking about the wrong body of water! Does the the Gulf flow backwards when it's high tide and water moves into a bay (or river or canal) from the Gulf (or any ocean)? No. Does it flow "forward" (or, by your implication, "correctly") when water moves from the lake to the Gulf? Once again, we are characterizing the flow of the canal, not the Gulf.

Sorry, I don't buy it. The gulf, the ENTIRE gulf, would have taken probaby seconds to fill a LAKE up. Dude, have you ever been on the Gulf? I have. A LOT. I fish on that sumbitch at least 8 times a year. We went 47 miles off Mexico Beach this last time. Do you realize what you're saying here?

Good point. If it's on TV, it's gotta be right. 03-thumbsup
