You can get a Korean "knock-off" of a AR-15 for about $650-700 at a gun show.

There are many other rifles that fire 5.56 x 45 NATO, you aren't limited to the AR-15.

Personally, I think a 12ga and a sidearm is sufficient for home and hurricane defense. .223 doesn't make a big enough hole ;.)

But it makes nasty wounds inside as it tumbles....

I don't want them getting up or running away. That's why a Mossberg 500 pump riot shotgun loaded with 00 buck sleeps under my bed at night.
