surround sound
whats a good surround sound? I got a 50 in plasma tv, just got a new HD sat receiver. it will be in a trailer living room. so I dont need a really loud one, but I would like a good surround sound

I know there are the all in one units, wireless speakers, wired speakers.

what are the pros and cons of those, and what do you recommend? my rule of thumb for electronics is dont get the cheapest-cuz its cheap and dont get the most expensive because you are just buying a brand name

RE: surround sound
do you have a budget?

I always argue in favor of seperates/components ... more expensive than all in ones but are upgradeable and you get better quality parts.

I'm interested in this one too. I just bought a new 37 inch plasma and I'm on a pretty tight budget.

For a solid receiver

$4-500 yamaha/denon/harmon kardon should get you the inputs and power you need

if you are doing 5.1 and aren't gonna use any speakers you have....

Decide if you want towers or bookshelfs for main speakers...

$3-400/pr front pair if towers
$1-200/pr for bookshelf main pair

Rears
$1-200/pr for rears

Center/Rear Center
$100-200ea.

Sub depends on how large a woofer you want..
$2-400 depending on size and power you want. A 10" or 12" w/ 250-500 watts is about right for most living rooms.

I'd say take a look at JBL, Cerwin Vega, Klipsch, Polk Audio, Definative Technology, Boston Acoustic, Monitor Audio.... all build quality speakers but I would listen to each to see how they sound to you.
