Ha. Sure, Torch. Once again... you have to try to belittle others because you can't argue with my statement. Have a good day, no longer need to respond to you.

You were serious w/ that post? You really think that stuff is true? Wow, you really don't believe in researching anything before you write, do you?
Don't feel obliged to respond to any of my posts mlb, b/c you insist on speaking w/o understanding. There's a word for that in the English language.

Unlike the rest of us, they also have 3 months available to add to those numbers if they can't make it on their 9 months salary.

That does not take education in to play, Paul M. How many people with master's degrees do you know that make $55K after 20+ years of experience? Especially if you are a math or science related major... you start at $55K+ with a bachelors degree.
The 3 months off during the summer does not make their number of hours worked any less than you or I in an office environment. They get to school 1 hour early, stay 1 hour late, and then do grading, lesson plans, make tests, meet with parents, etc., on top of those regular hours. About 55 hours a week would get them to 2080 in a year. Considering most schools are in session from 8-3:30, add in the 2 extra hours and you hit 9.5 hours a day already. 7.5 hours of grading and lesson plans each week is probably not anywhere close to the actual number... they probably work closer to 60 hours a week throughout the year and would have significant overtime hours after the school year is over.

Quite a bit of exaggeration there.
What happens if we do actual research and not use personal conjecture?

And I suspect that is buoyed by the engineering sector, which pays better than the sciences.
The point is taken that those going into teaching make less...however there is no differentiation between their ability and those going into the private sector.
In other words, "those who can, do..."

They still have those 3 months available. If they could land one of those higher paying jobs, they should.
When I was 15, I spent the time teachers did, in school and went to work after, usually until 9:00PM, in a grocery store. Full time in my 3 months off. Later, worked for my cities water dept. Wasn't unusual to work 80 hours + 88 overtime hours in a two week period ( I volunteered a lot). I'm a contractor now, have been about 30 years. I work less now, but in the last 2 weeks I have worked untill 11:30PM, 8:00PM, 7:30PM, 7:00PM. Physical labor. Sure, I don't have a Masters in anything but back braking. I'm not going to cry for a group who make more than I do, and do it in 9 months.

Although capable of spelling and using correct punctuation.
Fact is Mr. Wizard, you're a social misanthrope who isn't qualified to do the job you're paid for.

RE: Poor teachers hurting country
When they average those salaries they need to say that there are factors that skew those statistics. They are probably taking these statistics from larger metro areas that pay their teachers a very good amount. What they need to do is look at rural and poor inner-city teachers. Those teachers will make $30,000 a year after about 10 years and it won't go much farther than that.

That's what "Median Salary - All K-12 Teachers (United States)" means. Yes, some will make 30,000 and some will make 80,000.
