I admire anyone attempting activism...but...I hope they are ready to face the possible ramifications of their actions as with any activism. I can tell you know that if one of my employees called in with this excuse and there would be consequences.

RE: Gay Day
This has been done before here in California. When the illegals decided to take a day off the highways were a lot less clogged, there was more parking, service was better in stores and restaurants, etc. The down side was that white and black kids took off from school costing the schools money and my lawn didn't get mowed that day (this is not sarcasm, it really didn't get mowed). The next day the streets were clogged, there was no parking, the service in stores sucked and my lawn got mowed. It will be the same with gay day - for some the day will be easier and for others they'll have to pick a different day to have their home redecorated.

A homophobe could use the excuse that he couldn't come in because he didn't want to feel a little gay - or any other kind of gay...

Certainly...Although I may not agree with the cause does not mean that I dont admire the activism. I fully support any and all non-violent protest and civil disobedience. The temperance movement and prohibition was later struck down in a large part by equal activism in the courts of America when jurors refused to render guilty verdicts in alcohol related cases....This is the same activism that could be used to strike down drug cases today. As a juror is is your right to judge not only the defendant, but also the law that they are being charged under.....Funny thing...Judges will NOT tell juries of the "right of jury nullification". Its your right...but..You must know it in advance and if you let the court know...you will NOT be allowed to serve on a jury.

Goto FIJA.org.....for good information on this subject.

RE: Gay Day
The very basic idea of "let's show that the gay community is an important segment of society" isn't a bad one.

But this is incredibly stupid and needless to say I personally will not be "calling in gay" tomorrow, despite my displeasure with the recent laws passed concerning gay marriage and adoption. If I was a boss, I would not tolerate any employees missing work by "calling in gay".

I think there are ways to protest and at the same time still be productive members of society. Respect and acceptance are still major hurdles for the gay community. I count myself as a member of the community who'd rather not try to do things to polarize.

What about the poor people who are legitimately sick tomorrow? They're going to get some strange looks on Thursday. 03-lmfao

If my employees call in gay, I'll tell they to stay at home until they get all the gay out. No sense in spread gay around the office, bringing gay home to your kids.

Like I give a **** about fags. About as much as I do about murders, rapists, and theives. Calm me a bigot all you want. Sin is sin. And I have no sympathy for those who revel in it.

This bolsters the argument Dawkins makes that all religion -- even the seemingly passive and keep-to-theirself ones -- are destructive. I'd wager T-Monay is actually in the majority, if not the plurality, with his opinion there.

RE: Gay Day
If gays want to subject themselves to draconian “community property” laws that exist in Texas, California, et al, go for it.

But the supposed “denial of rights” that they claim they suffer because they cannot legally marry is false. Being gay in no way changes Probate laws, as long as you have a will. (and frankly, its irresponsible to not have a will).

With an executed Physicians Directive and Durable Power of Attorney for Heath Care you can make important health care decisions for your partner.

There is no discrimination whatsoever to gays when it comes to being designated the beneficiary on a life insurance policy, a bank account, a stock brokerage account, a retirement account, etc.

Man and people wonder why I'm not a huge fan of religion.

Exhibit freakin' A.

It'd been a while since I was compared with a murderer, rapist or a thief though...
