The fact that a government judge said that is has become in many respects a secular holiday is not what changed it into a secular holiday. It was the fact that many of things people do during Christmas has absolutely nothing to do with the birth of Jesus. The judge just recognized that.

You do realize Christmas and most of its traditions (gift giving, tree decorating, etc) is derived from a Pagan holiday which was celebrated on 12/25 long before Jesus was a twinkle in anyone's eye, right? The only reason it falls in December is because the church saw it as an easy way to convert Romans.

Easter has similar Pagan roots.

I've never heard of anything about Easter having Pagan roots.

From what I have heard/read/seen, he is pretty much dead on. While the "reason for the season" is still Christian, most of the traditions celebrated are of pagan roots.
