My CD haul from FYE & Circuit City going out of busniness:
From a FYE going out of business clearance sale:

Too$hort: Get in where you fit in, blow the whistle, I love the bay, Gettin It.

De La Soul: Timeless: The Singles Collection

MC Lyte: The very best of...

Suicidal Tendencies: " (self titled debut?) , Lights Camera, Revolution

Judas Preist (all the remasterd versions): Screaming for Vengeance, Hell Bent For Leather, British Steel, Turbo

Paul Wall: Get Money, Stay True

Mike Jones: Self Made ( I think this is a mix tape cd and not a "real cd" )

MC Hammer: Platinum MC Hammer ( lolz..all his good stuff on one cd )

********

Listened to the follwoing so far

Both Suicidals:

80's speed metal FTW 04-rock

Judas Presit: well I had that 2 disc SE w/ their hits on it... more good stuff through these cds though

Too $hort: Man, his cds would be a beast for just instrumentals. I am loving all the Oak town beats 04-rock But the overuse of "sex rhymes" seem to drag the overall experience down a little. The bass lines on these that I have listened to far really love my sub woofers in the car and at home 04-rock

Nothing like some Old School Hammer time 04-rock

The MC Lyte cd is bad ass.... man, I wish more female rappers would do what she did.

only brief tidbits of the the De La Soul cd.... I knew what I'd like so its good...

Mike Jones: 03-weeping sounds like a mix cd... not bad...just not all that IMO

Paul Wall: I like his rhymes and beats.... about the only downside to it s far is again... its all about money, rims, pimpin, and reppin your hood.... granted he does it well.... and I do like it...but he needs to expand his subject matter.

Is that Gangstarr "Full Clip?" If so, what a mighty fine collection of hits and some rarities. I bought it twice! The first one got stolen.

Oh, I agree...Mecca is pretty unparalleled IMO. Unfortunately I've never been able to find a copy (can't even imagine the prices). But Main Ingredient is a worthy follow up..also a bit more focused in its scope compared to Mecca.

Pete Rock could make some nice beats...but I never really got into PR&CLS for some reason.... I did like " Reminisce Over You" and did enjoy some of his beat skills on others works.

Man.... listening to new Q Tip most of the day today....

WOW.... Amplified was him trying to be "new millennium club rapper" on the "Abstract Poetic" tip. But the problem is Q Tip is not that guy and he can't fake that out that well either. Now I did like a few songs on that cd....but ... its not that great... I even did like the tune W/ Korn on it.

Ok...umm back to Renaissance, this is what Qtip is.... sould/jazz/rock beats w/ intelligent rhymes about hip hop, relationships, and life. Much better effort and relates to his style better.

Wow...found Outkast: Speakerboxxx/The Love Below at CC today...

HOW THE F* did this cd get all the hype it got? It is the worst of all the Outkast cds I have. Granted I think the Speakerboxx/Big Boi side was better than Andre3000's...... but still...this cd is garbage.

Some beats are ok... some rhymes are ok....but this is in no way a classic.

I thought Big Boi's disc was pretty good. I couldn't make it thru Andre's. Although I still get down to Hey Ya whenever I hear it. And yeah, Aquemini is their best.
