Seleznev and Fanselow Earn VaSID All-State Honors
Senior Aleksandr Seleznev (Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic) headlined the Monarch selections for the 2008-09 Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State Teams, earning First Team Singles and Doubles honors. Sophomore Tobias Fanselow joined Seleznev as his doubles partner for First Team honors, and also earned a Second Team Singles nod.

Alex was named CAA Player of the Year for his final campaign in a Monarchs uniform, and earned an automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Singles Championship in Texas. In dual action, he posted a 22-5 record in No. 1 singles, and finished the season with a 29-10 mark in singles. Most notably he defeated VaSID Player of the Year and 12th ranked Sanam Singh of Virginia.

Fanselow earned Second Team honors after going 29-14 in singles action, including a perfect 3-0 in No. 1 and an 18-9 record in No. 2 dual action. He was named First Team All-CAA and ranked as high as 80th in the nation. He had four wins over nationally ranked opponents in his second year.
