Pic of the last night's crowd at the 6 minute mark of the first quarter.

Holy crap. I think the announced 4000 could have been a bit liberal. Must have been 3500+ on the other sideline 03-wink.

Yikes - From the Memphis newspaper -

John Maddox said he thought it was awful.

Carl Mize said he thought it was one of the low moments in the history of the program.

Sue Berwick said she thought the fans had given up.

Dave Richardson said ...

Oh, maybe you’re wondering what I’m doing. I’m telling you what the Memphis football fans thought about Tuesday night’s nationally televised game against East Carolina.

No, not some of the fans.

All of the fans.

All 4,117.

I may have talked to every one of them. See, there are real advantages to covering this Memphis football program.

Sorry, but it is indefensible - I won't make excuses for those who did not come on a rainy night to watch a 2-5 team. I was there with my family - that's all that I can do. I will, however, bet you $10 that after Memphis is a member of the Big East, we will soon have a higher average attendance than USF.

I'll bet you $10 that after I sign my huge free agent contract with the Yankees that I'll get an endorsement deal with Just for Men.

To be fair - UC had a game or two with attendance like this not too many years ago. I know because I was there for them. And Tuesday night is a terrible night for football.

But 4117 is very bad.

No doubt - it is the worst I have ever seen in 41 years as a ticket buyer. Tuesday night + 2-5 season + chilly rain ..........I am ashamed of our fans.

RE: 4,117
I'll see if I can offer some spin. Maybe if we look at the most recent home game of the winless FBS teams it won't seem so bad...

10/24 UNLV @ New Mexico-24,021
10/24 ULL @ WKU-11,919
10/24 UCF @ Rice-10,196
10/24 NIU @ Miami(OH)-9,844
10/24 Ball State @ EMU-1,535

Um... Maybe if we look at the most recent home games of the winless FCS teams...

10/24 Texas State @ Northwestern State-8,113
10/17 Northern Colorado @ Idaho State-4,383
10/17 Colgate @ Georgetown-1,875

Outdrawn by two winless FCS teams... I can't spin that, sorry Tiger fans.

My question is why is a MTSU fan interested in this and bothering to post outside of a MTSU board?

Just a wild guess, but perhaps he is afraid UofM will become a BCS school.

He needs to be more worried that in Bredesen's latest higher education proposals, UT and Memphis are to receive an elevated status as research orientated school (with elevated funding) and MTSU will be left to focus on undergraduate education (even though they're the biggest school in the state).

MTSU beat Maryland for the 2nd year in a row - a team many of you would wet your pants to have.

RE: 4,117
It was rainy, cool, a Tuesday night, and the game was on national TV. I know a few students that had tickets but did not want to go because of the rain. Plus we are a basketball school and that is something that I care more about right now than talking about football. Why bring up the attendance of this game? If we were in the Big East or SEC, we would have had 60,000 no matter what our record is. We would probably out draw Cincinnati, Louisville, Southern Florida, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and UConn if we were in the Big East because we have a bigger stadium. We will probably have a great crowd of about 500 or 600 or so to take down to Knoxville. When West gets fired at the end of the season and we get Mike Holmgrom, or Gruden or Phil Fulmer, we will be able to fill the stadium against conference usa schools.

That wound is numb at this point in the season...no amount of salt can make it worse.

Sorry, but those first two guys would ask if the St. Louis Rams were relocating to Memphis and hang up when told no and the third one may be an option, but not a real popular one. (and I fixed the name for you)
