Sources tell WITN that ECU head coach Skip Holtz was offered the head coaching job at Cincinnati but turned it down opting to stay at ECU

RE: Skip Hotlz
Holtz was probably the source. I will wait to see what MT says.

Good for him, stay at your slightly above average CUSA school and have fun....I, for one, wanted zero part of Skip Holtz. I'm happy with Butch.

RE: Skip Holtz
I am happy with Butch as well. Skip never really interested me. And if hes not interested in us thats fine by me.

I kinda think this all may be his way of saying "oh obviously i was the man but i want to stay here." after he found out Butch was our guy (which we all sort of knew might be the case) than he made these comments. Sumlin and Golden probably did the same. No coach wants to lose and that includes in the interview process.

Uh huh.

I bet that is 100% accurate, and has nothing to do with Skippy being a douche since he didn't get the job. 03-idea

RE: Skip Holtz
LOL This means nothing.

This comes out when every coach is passed for a Head Coaching job.

Skip Holtz has a way inflated sense of self-worth. There is a reason why he has been in C-USA coaching for over the last half decade.

I dont buy this story. Butch fits the existing system and personnel. His record is great at CMU. I wanted no part of Holtz.

Turned it down...after he was Plan B for the second time in 3 years? The timing of his statement is.. shall we say... convenient. Or maybe he's holding out for the ND job.

Yeah, and I just turned down Elin Woods' offer to be my sugar mama after she divorces Tiger...I'm holding out for a hotter, wealthier blond swedish chick.

Simply Hilarious! Reminds me of during the Kelly search - during a live game telecast Bob Davie made a statement that he was "pulling his name from consideration for the UC job". Ironically he was Never Considered. 03-lmfao

Skip said the same thing 3 years ago when BK was hired instead of SH.

RE: Skip Holtz
He may have been looking to only leave for a certain amount of money and it maybe they didn't value him at that level. So, again it is over and everyone has moved on.

Was just thinking the same thing. I remember Frank Solich did the same.

Wasn't that during the Dantonio search/hiring? Not only do I remember him doing that on a live telecast, he told a reporter that UC had showed him on a tour of the facilities, and that UC would be able to compete at a high level but that he was pulling his name from consideration. Practically the next day Goin came out PERSONALLY and called Davie a liar. That was the same year that Frank Solich claimed that UC was seriously interested in him.
