"clowns", "idiots" - McChrystal was being charitable
I think McChrystal crossed the line in his comments to the Rolling Stone about the complete incompetence of Obama, Biden and the appointed aides he has to work with.

But lets face it, after Obama, announced a troop withdrawal to begin July 2011 (nice job "commander in chief") and Biden went public with his thoughts on how he completely disagreed with the surge strategy being deployed, McChrystal's comments are really pretty charitable if you think about it.

discuss.

He can hold whatever opinion he wants. However, he has to keep that opinion to himself when it comes to his Commander in Chief. Retirement should be his only option.

I am hearing from my military friends that they think the General took one for the team, planning to resign while drawing attention to the horrendous handling of the Afghanistan Warzone by the CIC.

EDIT: Sub is correct, you cant voice an opinion thats a court martial offense

x2. There's a 1:30 press conference scheduled now, so we'll know his fate by then.

While I disagree with how he delivered his comments, I don't believe it's in the best interests of the operation to remove him from his command.

It is in the best interest of the United States military as a whole to not only remove him from his command, but for his career to come to an end.

I agree with both of you. You can't do what he did. He has to resign or be fired.

And yet I completely believe that he did "take one for the team". Especially considering I read that RS mag called him to fact check his quotes and comments before publication and he stood by each one.

Forget the fact that its true.

I commend him for his honesty when American lives are put at risk due to the incompetence of these clowns and idiots.

He'll be put out to pasture. I'd gladly buy him a drink for standing up and stating that the emperor has no clothes.

Now that you've changed your signature, I'll be happy to join you and General McChrystal for a drink. I used to think that Jimmy Carter was the biggest numbnut that we've ever elected to office. Barack Obama has surpassed him in less than two years.

The emperor not only has no clothes, he thinks he's Harry Truman.

Truth is an absolute defense to a civil defamation claim. It should also be an absolute defense to claims of violating Article 88 of the UCMJ. The guy deserves a parade for shining the light on the waterbugs on the kitchen floor of the Washington Beltway. The choice of the forum for outing these empty suits was both mainstream and apolitical. Brilliant.

What happens when top military leadership puts its tail between its legs and goes lamb in the flock when it comes to serving an administration that fails to prosecute actions in a manner that will both provide for success and best protect Americans in uniform? Here's a guy who knowingly and publicly threw his career on a sword rather than be complicit to what has been the worst run executive branch in generations pushing a ruderless foreign policy advanced by autocrats.

Hard to believe it could, but it just keeps getting worse.

Whenever I see Obama, Pelosi (who is trying to raise money to defend herself from a Republican November onslaught), and Biden, I have to pinch myself........they remind me of cartoonish Star Wars political characters.

I didn't hear it from anyone in the military, but some ex-military friends of mine hypothesized the same opinion.

Totally agree, Rath.

Obama is an embarrassment to the people of the United States. We deserve so much better. He easily claims the position of worst president of the last 100 years, or atleast my lifetime.
