Because a school we despise, without the ambition, facilities, and financial means to play BCS football is brought up as an option, and we, a school with the ambition, facilities, and financial means to play BCS football are not brought up as an option?

Temple will never be back in the Big East. It is very doubtful any other conference would ever want Temple. Temple will never be a BCS school again. As 4 Nova, they will never be a FBS school, let alone 1 in a BCS conference.

RE: Villanova being targeted by the Big East
There are many NFL teams that could make a lot of additional revenue by renting out their stadium to neaby college teams, but for whatever reason choose not to. Dallas and Washington are the only ones I am aware of who seek out college teams to use their stadiums.

FYI...Tulane plays in the SuperDome...home of the Saints.

Also...Georgia Dome probably host more neutral site college games than anyone (game on opening weekend...plus now looking to host an opening weekend double header), plus the SEC Title Game and Bowl Game as well.

Other NFL stadiums host Bowl Games too.

NIU has played several games at Soldier Field (Bears) and has 2 more scheduled in the next 2 years (Wisconsin & Iowa).

It was close.

Here are the attendance figures for Villanova's 3 home playoff games last year:

First Round: 4,319

Quarter Finals: 2,661

Semi Finals: 4,171

Even some Nova fans noted about the "small" crowds for playoff games...as some of them were played in cold weather...and since these were not season tix, fans waited till game day and with some not so great weather, some stayed home.

Meanwhile....here are the attendance figures for Montana's 3 home Div I-AA playoff games from last year:

First Round: 19,197

Quarter Finals: 22,438

Semi Finals: 24,207

As CJ said in the very next post - if Villanova is in for FB, Temple might as well move all of their sports to the MAC permanently where they are currently having FB success again which by the way I am happy for.

At this time Temple would only make sense for FB only if the BE just wanted to balance the BE FB schedule. However ECU would make a better FB partner at this time if the BE headed in this direction. They have their own stadium, put 50k in the stands, travel well, and bring a new market in the Carolinas and the Tidewater area.

Personally I would go after UCF first for more exposure in Florida, for a travel partner for USF breaking down the isolation, and for a FB trip to Florida every year. UCF is also in a new market and has great new facilities on campus with their own 45k stadium. The BE would have to give them all sports status and go to 17 schools though.

All that being said the BE conservative leadership will just sit tight with 8 FB teams for the next few years to see how the expansion threats play out. The BE may not have to expand if the FB schools opt out for various FB super conferences. BE FB maybe also be severely damaged again if a couple of schools end up in the B-10, B-12, and the ACC if conferences go to 14 teams too. There is just too much uncertainty in the air for a conservative reactive rather than a proactive BE leadership board to make any moves at this time.

Temple fans' desperation to get back in the Big East reminds me of this scene:

Welcome villacats. It would be interesting to hear a VU fans perspective here rather than those of non league members fans.

Nova's AD re-stated the lack of interest in moving up. Stadium issue + unstable BE future = No Thanks. Both sides talked...nothing more, nothing less.

Posters embarassing themselves with wild speculation, under the cloak of "you're not a big east fan" when proven wrong, will kill the board.

Did Villanova's AD state they are not moving up, or that no formal discussions have been made, but that they have been constantly evaluating the situation? Could you post a link to the statement?
