I think that's the rig I worked on when I was in Baton Rouge. I'm not for sure. But it looks like it's in the right location from the map. I wonder what set it off...

If the oil industry is going to start having accidents right and left, some oversight is in order. IMO, a lot of people in the oil industry have been elevated to their level of incompetence, primarily due to their political skills - and not because they were good at their jobs...

Yea its like that in any industry. I also think it has to do with buying cheaper oversea's parts. And a lack of preventive maintenance.

It's SOP in industries that put out harmful byproducts, like the oil, chemical, mining, etc. It's cheaper than ensuring a safer methodology, and a small payment (in relation to the huge cost of doing it right) here and there in the proper places, at the proper time, and the government will be persuaded to overlook such issues. History has proven that - until the sh!t hits the fan. Then all bets are off, because it's every man for himself...
