Josh Jenkins to undergo arthroscopic surgery
Some news just prior to WVU's biggest game to date. There was little mention of this after the win over Maryland. But OG Josh Jenkins only played a few series before being injured. He left the game in the first quarter, and was in street clothes after halftime... newsandsentinel.com Wrote:Josh Jenkins update: Word is former Parkersburg High offensive tackle Josh Jenkins, a two-year starter for West Virginia University, will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery today.
An MRI didn't reveal any breaks, but did show some damage that doctors want to repair now.
No word yet on how long he will be out of action.
Jenkins is one of the best players on the offensive line. But he's been injury prone, missing most of his freshman year after hurting a knee ( not sure if this is the same knee). Eric Jobe took over Jenkins LG spot for the remainder of the Maryland game, and most likely the remainder of Jenkins convalescence. Cole Bowers and Jeff Braun will continue to man the right side of the O-line...

Tough break for him but the truth is he hasn't lived up to expectations. Not a huge loss.

I wonder if redshirting JJ would be an option since he played as a true freshman?

RE: Josh Jenkins to undergo arthroscopic surgery
It would be nice to save a year of eligibility for Jenkins, since his freshman year was shortened by an injury in WVU's 5th game that year. Had his injury in 2008 happened in the 4th game, he'd be a sophomore eligibility-wise. But I think he's going to try to come back before season's end...
