And those two things at least for the general public are something everyone agrees are the penultimate problems where we all differ to some extent is how to prevent them from happening. I've been reading Arianna Huffington's new book Third World America, and before everyone goes dismissing her as a lefty shill I want you to keep two things in mind. 1) She used to be a conservative but decided that a smaller role if any at all for government wasn't the answer in some cases it was the problem. 2) This book is written from a fairly non-partisan viewpoint and has gotten praise mostly from the left but quite a bit from the right including Thomas Friedman and Joe Scarborough. She proposes some very market oriented ideas as well. I greatly recommend it to everyone because at worst it'll cause you to think.

The biggest problem is the average American doesn't know about these problems. They're stuck living in a dreamworld thinking everything is OK. When the Dollar loses its status as the Worlds Reserve Currency. We're Phuked- for the of a better word.

I do think there is nothing wrong with spending money, as long as we're making money(tax revenue) in return. Government should be handing out grants or loans to Industry. Whether its green, or manufacturing. We need to put Americans to work. There is so much underemployment in this country its not even funny. There is no reason for a father of 3 needs to have to settle for work at a Walmart. Memphis starting to manufacture cars is a start. High Speed Rail is a fabulous idea. It creates jobs and brings in tax revenue to help get things under control.

One other thought is, states should be working on contingency plans in case the Dollar totally collapses. South Carolina already is, and South Dakota already has its own money system in place.

The U.S. government has destabilized more than one government for little reason. All of the instability in Central America stems from the "Big Stick" policy advocated by Teddy Roosevelt. Policy reversals have led to distrust among the nations of the Orient, as we spent our early years in foreign diplomacy playing one side against the other to get the most favorable financial deals to the point where neither side trusted us. It was those types of policy decisions during the Boxer Rebellion in China that led to Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, and China's reluctance today to accept Americans at their word...
