If I'm not mistake as of right now UC has to schollies for 2012 (Gates & Dixon)

Gates. I'll give him his 6'9".
Wingspan aside, Jackson does not look to be 6'8".
Gaines may be more like 6'8".
If the rule holds true, Mbodj is probably 6'8".

That said. Most other schools exaggerate, so it probably doesn't matter.

I think Mbodj is being listed at 6'10 and is probably 6'9.

From what I have seen, I think Gaines is a solid 6'9"...potential sure is there for a very nice front-court next season

It sounds like we are still solidly in the mix for God's Gift.

My eyeball test said the same thing.

I think Gates is a very real 6'9", gaines looked slightly taller, hard for me to tell the difference between Gaines's height and I. Thomas's.

I have always followed Ouchhoops rule regarding reducing stated heights but I would be very surprised if Gaines weren't 6'10".

My opinion is if Bdoji is the next option if we don't get GG to commit, then i'd search elsewhere or just save the schollie for another year. We don't need another Derek Hollman or a big man that can't compete in the Big East. If he couldn't dominate for Jacksonville State, how can he play in the Big East?

I am hoping that I seen the wrong person's profile. It did list him as Dakar.

That isn't the correct player. His name is Cheikh Mbodji and he is listed at 6'10 227 lbs. At this time I think UC and San Diego State are his only offers, but he has interest from Iowa and Washington (also in dire need of a big man) per Rivals. Clearly he appears to be somewhat of a backup plan if they cannot land God's Gift, however he looks more ready to produce than a guy like Ellis, who should either Prep (may not qualify) or red shirt. From that stand point he theoretically would be an upgrade.

yes, I later seen that and am very happy over being wrong. Whew..haha...things are looking better for the program if he is anywhere near the talent they talk of. Looks like this one won't have us freaking out over shooting a 3 pointer here and there.

Landing one of those guys to go along with Mbodji would really sure up the frontcourt and make life after Yancy a little easier in 2012-13.

IT'S good seeing us still in with another big body. We need more of them to compete with a lot of the Big East teams year in and year out. I don't feel good about our chances of getting Gods Gift but one never knows. My question is who gets dropped from the roster or goes on academic scholarship or whatever it takes. We have plenty of guards and has mixed feelings if a veteran like Parker would leave but he didn't get to play much and he might actually want to transfer if needed. I'm glad I wouldnt' have to make the decision but maybe it works out anyway without needing to cut someone loose.

You did. Cheikh goes to Grayson and he averaged. about 15 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and shot 70% from the FT line.

If he shoots 70 % Free throws here, he'd definitely be an upgrade.

Gates is about 6'9 and Gaines is closer to 6'8.

I wish UC would just list the athletes with their correct heights and weights. Most players shrink 2 inches when they come here and Kentucky and Xavier has theirs grow an inch or two.

What the hell difference does it make? When you step out on the floor, the only thing that matters is skill and who wants it more.

If that was the case, why didn't Lo ever lead UC in rebounding?

Well to be fair...If that were the case, why wasn't Lo a lottery pick? Why weren't Herb Jones or Eric Hicks or Bobby Brannen drafted? etc.

Size matters. Obviously you can get away with not having it more times than not in college because you aren't going up against the best big men in the world every night, but it's still better to have it than not.

Danny Fortson could have been a Hall of Famer if he was 6-10.

And if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle. All schools lie about the heights of their players. Most players are somewhere in the 6'6" to 6'8" range and are listed anywhere from 6'7" to 6'10". So our school has a 6'6" and we say he is 6'7". Another school has a 6'7" and they list him as 6'9". In the end, it is 1". Just get out there, beat the hell outta the other guy and get the ball, and score the ball.
