Question about JD Byrider
I'm looking at various dealerships and JD Byrider is one of them. I don't know a ton about them yet, and I hear some horror stories from people, but you hear that all the time when dealing with used car dealerships. What are your thoughts are JD Byrider?

RE: Question about JD Byrider
They specialize in customers with low credit scores or financing issues. If that doesn't apply, I'd probably shop elsewhere unless they had a specific car you were looking for. If it does apply, I'm not sure how they compare to other options.

RE: Question about JD Byrider
As far as their cars, they do the same thing nearly all smaller lots do which is buy their cars at dealer auto auctions (larger dealers send their trade ins to auction, repos/bank owned, things coming off of lease). If financing is not the issue, look to the private market. May not be as clean and detailed, but the cars are normally better cared for, with an on-site history, and a lot cheaper.

There was a tread on BBanter which mentioned Hirlinger Cheverlet in W. Harrison IN as a reputable dealer. I assume the same it true for their used car operation.

Others may have an opinion on Hirlinger.

RE: Question about JD Byrider
It's a decision based mostly on an individual's credit worthiness. JD is better than many independent lots if your only option is some form of Special Financing.

If you have good credit, I would look for a used car coming in on trade from a new car dealership. Beechmont Toyota has sold me two good Avalons in the past. New car dealers typically keep cars with lower mileage and are mechanically sound. If the car has an issue it is quickly off to the auction.

I purchased a new ride from Hirlinger and I liked them very much. I have never dealt with their used cars, but the same guys run the used car lot and they are first rate AND honest.

RE: Question about JD Byrider
I know the User car saleman personally at Hirlinger. I was not going to post but since you brought them up. If you want to talk to him is name is Jim Trabel. They have a web site were you can look at there cars if you like. Jim is a good person and will take good care of you if you want tell him Mark Wolfram sent you to him. May not get you a better price but it will not hurt either.
