yes...typical of Matta and OSU agreed. I can't stand Matta. In fact I hate him above all other coaches in college hoops today. Seeing their mighty #1 not even get to the elite 8 last year was priceless. and for ONCE IN MY LIFE I was rooting for UK (i just puked in my mouth)

RE: Why don't O$U and UC play? (basketball)
The article was a little deficient. Andy Geiger, osu's AD for during most of Huggin's tenure, gave multiple interviews wherein he stated the reason came down to UC's success as to why they didn't schedule UC. In one interview he stated osu was not up to UC's level. Not sure why they left this out.

To add a little perspective as to osu's comments for not scheduling in state opponents. (Their website only went to the the 2006-2007 season. So my numbers are up to that point.) If you look from our last NC appearance against them, 1962 - they have scheduled 46 games against Ohio Schools from the 1962-63 season till 2006-2007. During this period there were 13 seasons playing two ohio schools and 7 seasons playing more than two. The most recent was 3 Ohio schools in the 2006-2007 season, which included a bad UC team. They have played OU the most at 12 times. Cleveland State was second at 6 times. Never an appearance against Eggs.

I was also going to look at how many gimmie games they have scheduled in this time period, however it would have taken too much time. I did find many seasons where they scheduled multiple MAC opponents and other smaller conferences in the same season. Seems Butler is a favorite opponent of theirs, going back to the late 60's.

I think the numbers debunk the osu explanation. Sure they schedule some national teams, however they also schedule their fair share of other Ohio schools and lesser opponents.

I personally could care less whether we play them. We are in the Big East. We play an extremely tough conf schedule. We have played national programs in our non-conf schedule too. UC is a top 10-15 program all time. UC does not need a series nor should they seek one with that "school up north." I only wish they would be honest for once.

Bottom line is this: Until tO$U sees some benefit for themselves in scheduling UC, they're not gonna do it willingly. They're collective ego is too fragile to risk losing to UC.
