we're talking salary from the school. not including shoe contracts, radio etc.

You can't just throw that stuff out, that is all part of the contract.

If you only use Mick's base salary, then his last contract was only $250k per year and his new one probably won't be much more than that. In the old one, he made $250k in base salary, $150k from radio and television, $100k from shoe and apparel deals, and $80k for public appearance fees.

I sure hope to see either Davis or Guyn emerge as a quality backup by season's end. Both preferably.

Couldn't agree more here BJ...but I will add that even if "all we do" is win 26 games, get ranked, and win one ncaa game again...I will be happy with this. Yeah...we have fallen THAT far over the last few years. So if we "just" repeat last year I won't complain....anything beyond this (more wins, top 10, ncaa run etc is only icing on my cake at this stage).

Yes you are just throwing stuff out, you said you weren't counting the radio and shoe money for Brey, but you are including it in Mick's.

hold up,

I quote a source saying mick's base pay is 900,000

you quote a source saying his base pay is 250,000

we're both referring to base pay

maybe our definition of base pay is different

Your quote is including radio, tv, etc. as base pay which is the way most people do it since that is guaranteed money in a contract. That is why I am saying you can't throw that stuff out when talking about Brey's contract.

so why are you calling micks 250k as his base pay ? shouldn't you include the other stuff the way you want it included in mike brey's

to make it simple, what do uc pay mick? for the sake of continuity, lets called that his base pay.

Under the new contract it will be $1.25 million (base salary, radio, tv, etc.) and the last report on Brey was that he was about the same.

Yes, as far as I understand it, UC pays that to him out of the money they receive from WLW, FSO, etc for the radio/tv rights. Adidas has a contract with the school, not the coaches.

Yes that is his coaching pay, but he also gets $450k for the adidas contract ND has and another $100k for radio and TV contracts for a total well over $1 million.

Mick had a base salary of $250k for coaching, plus the money he gets from the adidas contract and for TV and radio, which all added up to about $900k

In the end, they both make about the same under the new contract Mick was promised.

You are starting to make my head hurt.

I'm not so sure those are not separate contracts.

It used to be that way at UC until they signed an all sports contract with adidas. When we were with Nike, the contracts were with individual sports and coaches, but the adidas deal was with the entire athletic department.

Haven't heard much on that front. I remember hearing that Mick was close to raising all the private funds they needed to improve the look of the practice gym by adding graphics and such.

i've just browsed this thread, haven't read the entire thing. it seems to me that the hoop's team's success depends upon how much coach cronin makes this year. what do you guys think? 03-lmfao

Well, if his salary came up so prominently in the thread titled "Keys to UC’s hoop success in 2011-12", then it must be so 03-lmfao

From a previous Koch article, he indicated that Mick had raised about half of the $75,000 for the work on the practice facility. This was back in March though so maybe they are close to their goal now.
