I think it was agreed to in principal but they had to get the language ironed out...

So he officially signed it? That's good. His raise was well deserved.

One part of it I didn't know was that UC has the option to extend the contract for 3 years with a raise. Wonder if that was one of the details that was ironed out after the fact.

I read somewhere, and I can't remember where (CRS disease), that he is the lowest paid head coach in the BCS conferences.

I can see that. He's definitely seeing a spike this year, though. Where does his raise come in- base salary or those TV/media deals? Also, where does Mick rank among BE coaches, now?

IF he is the lowest paid Head Coach in BCS conferences, then he must be last in BE, n'est-ce pas?

Obviously before the new contract he was the lowest paid HC, but my question was if the new contract bumped him up or if he is STILL the lowest paid HC.

Without me being a smartass, as I am sometimes wont to do, I believe Fred Hill may have been the lowest paid coach in the BE, prior to his replacement taking over. I think Hill made approximately $600K-$650K when he was fired.

Got it, thanks. Glad Mick has such a strong loyalty to UC but I'm wondering how easily it will be for him to turn down paydays in the $3-$4 million range that might get thrown his way if he keeps winning.

He was ranked 12th out of 16 in his old contract and he is still 12th with this one... They give some more details about the contract

Ha! As part of the deal UC commits to raise the basketball budget by 50 grand in the 2012-13' season. UC was 13th in the BE this year...that huge 50 K increase might just keep us from falling to 14th or 15th two seasons from now.

I really hope the fan base steps up this season.

well, it worked quite well for Bob Huggins. He got a lot of raises bumped up when the other schools started showing interest. The same will probably work for Mick, why not?

Probably true. Let's hope UC has the finances to keep upping his payout if he continues to perform like Huggs did. The new BE media deal in 2013 should help things.

I imagine it will, now that the team has shown it can end a season strong instead of how they had been ending in previous years. Knowing they can finish a season should make the early season games seem more worthwhile (though not many are still going to come for games against South West Eastern Missouri State).

Yeah, that should about cover the paint and brushes for the practice courts. Hopefully the players won't be told to wear old clothes instead of their practice garb to practice for a few days...

I've said it all along, winning cures everything. keep winning and he'll get everything you guys want. then again, probably not.

what do we need to be able to fairly compete with other D1 teams?

A solid gold court? 2 chrome basketball rims that spin?

This is a good day. mick got a much needed raise, our future looks bright. no need to hold a pity party or try to lower expectations. let us get our swagger back.
