RE: All Things GSU
My problem is the second C-USA adds GSU they become ahead of ECU in the conference expansion junk. For a lot of reasons you would be a great addition, but for that one alone I don't like it.

That is the most unlikely objection to our moving up that would ever expect,

If AQ goes away that will put a stop to a lot of the nonsense.

Its still a playoff in the truest sense. If you take the Top 10 and put them in bowls its still the Big 6. Houston may sneak into the Top 10 this year but not by much.

Goizueta Foundation grants GSU $5M
http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/...su-5m.html
Quote:The Goizueta Foundation gave Georgia State University a $5 million grant to recruit, retain and graduate Latino students.
The funding will start the Latino Leadership Pipeline (LLP), in which 100 promising Latino high school students will each receive $10,000 annual scholarships, academic support for college and internships designed to launch them as successful business and community leaders, GSU said.

Designing a New Home for GSU Law
http://law.gsu.edu/7300.html
Quote:Designing a New Home
November 11, 2011
ATLANTA - Nearly three decades after it first opened its doors and carved out space in the Urban Life building on the Georgia State University campus, the College of Law is working on designs for a new building.
After a lengthy pre-design process of studying the law school's programmatic and space needs, the project has advanced to the formal design phase, which is expected to continue through summer or fall of 2012. GSU is working to secure state bond support of $65 million and is in the leadership phase of a private fundraising campaign that hopes to secure the remaining $20 million needed to finance the cost of the building. If everything goes to plan, construction crews will break ground in the fall of 2013 and the new College of Law will open in the fall of 2015.
Late last year, the Georgia State University Foundation made a significant investment in the project with the purchase of a parcel of land at the intersection of John Wesley Dobbs Avenue and Park Place, just north of Woodruff Park, for $17 million. The College of Law will share the site with the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, which also plans to build there. Earlier this year, the state authorized a $5 million bond issue to support design costs for the new College of Law building.
This marked a turning point, ending long-standing speculation about where a new law school would be built. Now, with a site selected and the blessing of the Board of Regents to move forward, design work is proceeding in earnest.

GSU Men's BB Blows out RPI #70 SC State 85-54
I know its early so RPI doesnt mean much yet and SC State was probably (crowd says "OVERRATED"). But a 31 point road win is pretty huge. We never got one of those even in the Lefty Dreissell years.

Largest win margin for Men's BB road win in GSU history.

I think it's sadly a very fair objection on the part of ECU fans. We have already seen this story play out twice with USF first and now UCF. Schools that moved up to C-USA and then got/will get an AQ invite for no real reason other than location. I'm quite frankly tired of seeing schools who paid no dues at the FBS level reach a level we have been fighting 30+ years to reach. Of course I do think you will be FBS sooner than later, and probably will be an eventual good addition to C-USA, but it is what it is at this point.

I dont want any part of the Big East. Herbstreit was right when he called them a Basketball League. I want to be in a regional conference that takes football seriously where fans can get to some of the games and we can take the band. I want OUT of the CAA and I want no part of their older brother.

Maine in the CAA is pretty rough but 1,400 miles to UTEP is worse.

At least they have divisions so you only would have 1 or 2 west trips.
Atlanta has the busiest airport in the world and we fly to El Paso
People in Atlanta have heard of UTEP. I mean, I saw Houston@ UTEP on CBSSports. Maine and UNh? Not so much.
