According to Mike in Clifton, Ivan was preparing to come to Cincy, and that was 3 days AFTER the Z-bomb was dropped.

No telling what's going on today, but I obviously trust Mike in these matters.

I think he'd be stupid to bolt. Based on everything we've heard, unless the reports on him are completely wrong.........he's a lock to start at center. Not many kids walk in and start right away. He will be playing with 4 returning starters. And he would be a lock to start the following year too. HOW MUCH MORE CAN A KID WANT? And then he'd have to sit out a year. It will be hard catching on somewhere else because he'd have to go through the enrollment process and get cleared. Many schools have already started.

Plus, he might possibly be starting, considering the returning players, on a NCAA tourney team and competitive Big East team.......the best conference in the country and because of the East Coast Media.......he will get the most exposure if he does well.

I think he's an idiot if he doesn't come.......atleast in terms of everything I said.

Now if it's for other reasons like playing close to home, yada, yada, yada........you can't control those things. But he chose to come here in the first place...........and he will be a huge part of this team this year and possibly DA MAN next year. What else could a kid want????

But kids don't think like that. They bolt for stupid reasons.

Stupid reasons like being lied too by a program that deems their fortune being far more important than yours...

well, most colleges have already started their school year and Ivan Johnson and McGowan would probably have to sit out at least a semester. As JC transfers, that could be tough. Also, The 4 incoming freshman had already received grant in aid from UC for summer school and they would have to leave UC and then appeal to the NCAA and then probably have to sit out a year. That's not so popular either. My guess is they will stay here and end up liking playing for Andy Kennedy also. If not, we are in deep doo - doo

i understand kids want to play for certain coaches....but...

....they do commit to and play for the school not the coach...there is no guarantee the coach will be there...what about the illinois recruits who went to play for bill self...or the kansas recruits who went to play for roy williams...

what about when coach k was out a year? what if the coach dies, like huggins almost did several years ago?

there are no guarantees...except for the school

p.s. the coaches dont seem to mind leaving the players when they leave to take better jobs

How much would it really hurt the team if he decided to leave? I haven't followed this guy at all so I'm not sure how good he is. I did see one low post player (who shall remain nameless) play in the summer league and his play was very very sorry. IMO we need as much help as we can get in the post. Someone convince him to stay.

p.s. Hicks and Maxiell showed up to the football game last night. Maxiell is a pimp!

lovehicks,
Ivan is the difference possibly between a winning and losing season. The coaches both AK and Martin have indicated he was the key palyer not to lose.

Unforunately Ken Broo reported last night that he spoke with his JC coach and Ivan is not coming to UC.

The fall of UC basketball begins

good luck at k-state or lamar or whatever powerhouse you chose uc over to begin with

nothing like quitting when the going gets a little tough

hope the decision works out best for him

Snart,

I don't care if Huggins is gone. Ivan's best option is to play for UC........they are still a new part of the Big East which will be the best b-ball conference in the country.

And I agree with the comments that say there are no guarantees that a coach will be there.

He won't be guaranteed playing time or even starting anywhere else.......except maybe some mid-major. Ooooh wow........how impressive that will be.

I could care less if Huggins is gone in regards to these recruits. You verbal to a school/program, not a coach. And this program had all the makings of a good season and still does with or without Ivan.......but he could have made a difference..........and he could have gotten noticed playing in the Big East. I see him now as another one of these big men who spurned UC and were never heard of again.

He needs to get past this Huggins thing and realize there is still alot to be gained by coming to UC. But it sounds like he already made up his mind.

Does anyone have a link to this information or is it coming from an inside source? Possibly the same inside source that each week said they were going to renew Huggins contract and never did. Just wondering.....................................................

The source is Johnson's JC coach.

Basketball wise yes.

But how does it feel to play for a school that lied to you that Huggs would still be coach.

How did they lie to him?

Huggs believed he'd still be here when he recruited Ivan, so there was no intention to decieve him. Huggs had no idea that NZ would give him the boot.

Unless you're talking about the fact that they told Huggs he could finish his contract? Then you are correct that Nancy indirectly lied to Ivan. But what's new. She is a total liar and deceiver.
