WOW.

I might not be the biggest women's hoops fan but you can't argue with her success and national titles.

Can't wait until there's a bad call and the announcer says she's "going mad" over on the sideline.

The announcer better not do it in Knoxville. He might not make it out of the city alive... 05-mafia

Scott Ferrell said it best...she's the best Women's Basketball coach and probably better than 70% of the Men's coaches

Hell, if I'm not mistaken, she has more wins, more national championships, and more final 4 appearances than her male counterparts.

Only John Wooden has more national championships. But that's the only category she's not #1 in - male or female...

oh please, comparisons are impossible. As little parity as there is in men's college basketball, that's how much less there is in women's. If she had to coach in men's where the playing field is more even, I wonder how she'd do.

She competes to the competition. There's nothing that says she couldn't be as successful in men's bball.

BTW, there are men female bball coaches.

you're right, there's nothing that says she can't be successful in men's bball, but let's not compare her record and championships to the likes of Wooden. Once a program gets big in women's ball, it's a lot easier to stay that way than in men's.

This isn't a men vs. women, who's better thing. This is about how much more competitive men's ball is

Why not compare her to Wooden? She has had as big an impact on her player's lives as he did on his players. What she does extends way beyond the basketball court, dude. You dismiss that too easily, which tells me something...

i'm not dismissing her incredible accomplishments. What she's achieved as a coach and a mentor should put her in the basketball hall of fame. I was responding to the person who said she's probably better than 70% of the men's coaches. I believe her success at Tenn. just can't be translated to men's ball due to the extreme differences in the level of competition. It's a lot easier to maintain success at the women's level than at the men's level.

Please don't try to make it seem as though i'm somehow minimizing her contributions to the lives of the young women who have played for her

To totally dismiss it without proof doesn't mean it's not true. At this point, nobody can say because she didn't get the chance to prove it. But just because she didn't get a chance to prove it doesn't mean it's not a possibility...

Then how have only UCon and Tennesee have been the ones to do it.

There are multiple Men's teams with extended success.

it's certainly a possibility, but you simply can't make a comparison without proof. She's the best women's coach. Can't we just leave it at that? To start comparing her to men's coaches is tough

You have Duke, Carolina, Kentucky, and quite a few more than basically UCon and Tennessee only that have had long term success in going to NCAA post seasons and at least Sweet 16s. As far as one coach with that many titles on the men's side you would have to go back to John Wooden and UCLA.

I would say that Stanford has also had had long term success in women's basketball. They're missing the recent title to cement it, but most programs would be thrilled with these results.
