RE: Boston College Article
The current thinking in Providence is that we will expand, not whether to do so or not. Nova has a decision to make and there are no "sure things" right now, so they are waiting. Trust me, I understand your frustration, I've watched this for three decades. You've been with us for less than a decade and I hope we are all together for many decades. I want 12 teams, but I want good to great teams/schools. Things are being done, just not on our schedule.
P.S. I don't see a split in the future, there are simply too many good reasons to keep this monstrosity together, many of them $$$$$$.

RE: Boston College Article
Wilkie, did Louisville do its due diligence before it joined the Big East?
Did it know that there were eight Catholic basketball schools in the conference?
Did it know that Notre Dame played most of its sports in the BE, but not football?
Did Louisville mistakenly join the wrong conference? I am obviously being facetious but some of that is a genuine question.
One of the big complaints was that a eight team football conference was too small, that a ninth member was necessary for scheduling.
TCU is coming in to fix that issue. What remains "unfixed" about football? Does 12 teams make economic sense? Does 10? I am not sure.
Are there any available marquee teams out there that can greatly enhance the new TV deal?
If not, what is the problem with football?

RE: Boston College Article
Terry, Wilkie is one of our members who feels that more inventory will help out TV contract, and feels that inviting those teams immediately will allow the newly invited members to improve their teams, since BCS status will allow them to recruit better players. As a result, he wants to turn half of The BEast into a CUSA reunion of all of the Cards old rivals, whether they're ready for the invite or not...
Fortunately, Wilkie isn't in charge of the conference. Although I must admit, it would be an interesting ride if he was - while it lasted. But wiser heads shall prevail...

I am not answering any of Terry questions until he properly answers my first question to him. And I am calm. I went fishing all day.

I just re-read the entire thread & Wilkie never posted a single question. I think he'ds just messing with you. Very clever tactic, Wilkie.

Reality shows don't get any better than that Absolutely no one to root against. Troy's my favorite, as well as the two brothers with the long ZZ Top beards.

I live down here. Our receptionist is good friends with Troy.
She finds it funny that so many people see him as a celebrity.

RE: Boston College Article
Ok, to answer Wilkie's question again from post #8 in the other thread:
If ND indeed exercised a veto on the woman's tournament in that Indian casino:
It means nothing to me, actually. I don't much care one way or another about women's basketball.
If ND has that much power in the BE, I (as an ND fan) think that is kind of cool. Wouldn't Louisville fans like for the Cardinals to have that type of clout, influence and power?
If the BE schools let ND have that type of veto power over things like women's basketball, then that is kind of sad and pathetic of those schools.
Of course, I don't think that ND has that kind of veto power so this is all kind of moot.
I think that I have answered the question.....again. :)

RE: Boston College Article
Terry, we did in the Metro, but AD Bill Olsen's greed of not sharing basketballmoney and Louisville and FSU playing as an independent in football killed the chance for the Metro to have football and eventually caused Memphis and UC to leave and form the Great Midwestern Conference and a watered down Metro. Then both of these conferences collasped and CUSA was created. I see Notre as doing to the Big East what Louisville and FSU did to the Metro.
Thanks for answering the question. I sure hope the Big East does not turn out to be another Metro type mess.
