RE: Who in their right mind would want Baylor now?
This is all on the SEC not Baylor. The SEC doesn't want to deal with litigation. Baylor would simply be protecting their interest, just like OU, Tex, and A&M. To somehow try to make Baylor look like the bad guy here is plain dumb...

If this shakes out as it appears to be ISU, Cincy,Tcu, and USF will feel good about where they are , but likely are on the long term hot seat. If ND is forced into one of the 4-16, 2 of those schools likely will be forced outside looking in. If you are one of those pushed out... I Promise you will be fighting with everything you have to stay in. You are looking at 10 mil per year or more in losses.

So long as Baylor has a AQ bid to bring with them, welcome aboard!

Its not so much about Baylor looking like the bad guy, but that the school would use litigation to prevent other schools from looking out for their own interest. I know that this approach and politics are tools Baylor has to work with, but using them appears unseemly.

This sounds like Custer's last stand. It had better work for the Bears. If it doesn't, they become a pariah.

Its a dog eat dog world and Baylor is just protecting its "bowl". They could land in Conference USA if the Big 12 crumbles.

Baylor knows they could be on the verge of being in C-USA so I don't blame them one bit for trying to do whatever they can to keep that from happening. However, I think people are predicting the demise of the B12 too quickly. Same doomsday stuff was all but guaranteed to happen last year, and then it didn't. That's my guess here as well.

Negotiating behind and others back while being part of the expansion committee or following a new tv deal is also unseemingly.

There is no chance that Baylor ends up blocking this. You can't hold a school hostage forever. If you are going to prevent someone from leaving your conference, why have procedures in place for teams to leave? You think A&M will come crawling back to the Big 12 and live happily ever after?

Baylor needs to pick its battles wisely.

Agreed. Beebe said the Big XII wouldn't sue if A&M complied with the exit terms. That would have been the big hurdle. Baylor could possibly slow things down but they have zero chance of stopping the train. A huge waste of money on their part to venture into litigation. JMO.

How in the world can UNL and CU leave with having only to pay exit fees, yet when A&M wants to bolt lawyers start crawling out of the woodwork?

If a school wants to leave the SEC, they simply inform the league office and stop paying the $50 member dues. I imagine the B1G and PAC are similarly constituted. To refer to the Big 12 as a conference is laughable as no three members have aligning interests.

I wonder how hard Baylor stood up for SMU, Rice, TCU and Houston when they were shoved aside at the formation of the Big 12.

We should have sued BYU, Utah, Colorado State, Air Force, and Wyoming when the MWC was formed. Still regret that one - it would have put BYU in a very difficult place.

RE: Texas A&M may have a Baylor problem
Whoa, guys, take a step back...look at the source of the article. It's none other than cow-Chip and he's trying to stir up trouble for A&M....yet again.

Don't you think that this is standard wording for any school that wants to move from one conference to another. Don't you think that the Big10 and PAC12 asked for the same concessions from the Big XII when NU and Colorado moved (i.e. we accept you as long as there is a sign-off from the other members of the conference).

Has a school ever been sued for switching conferences? I remember the Big East wanting to sue Miami when they left to the ACC, guess where that got....NOWHERE! and they took a bunch of schools with them. What about when the MWC nearly destroyed the WAC by carving out the top programs....anything ever come out of that?

So just chill. Just as A&M was eventually voted into the SEC, this too is much ado about nothing.

SEC Celebration postponed:

There are going to be some seriously hard feelings about this towards Baylor.

RE: Texas A&M may have a Baylor problem
If the SEC really wants to require the other nine schools in the Big 12 to waive their rights to future litigation before they accept aTm, then the SEC really doesn't want to expand.

Why the hell would anyone waive the right to litigate in the future? Circumstances change, and new information comes to light. Even if you actually wanted aTm to leave, you still shouldn't waive your litigation rights without some sort of ADDITIONAL compensation for doing so.

My guess is that this is just a BS tactic by the SEC to see if these schools are dumb enough to do it. When one ore more balks, the SEC will drop the request.

Texas A&M may have a Baylor problem
I drove through Waco on Monday and saw a prominent Billboard just across the Highway from Baylor advertising School Affinity license plates with two huge plates in full school colors ... Baylor and TAMU. I couldn't help but smile...

i'm sure that won't last out the day without falling victim to some form of vandalism.

What would be funny is if Texas AM agrees to stay but only if Baylor is removed from the b12 lol

(assuming that this really does scare away the SEC and if they are the only team refusing to sign off on their move) it would be brilliant lol, the B12 would cut BU in a heart beat to keep aTm
