not a flame, but UL probably wouldn't have beaten a more defensive minded SEC team if they had a -4 turnover margin.......SEC teams pound the ball and run the clock and if you turn it over 4 times, you will most likely lose.....the reason they could recover against Boise is with passing teams the clock stops a lot and Boise scored very quickly.......

maybe, but it was Boise State being undefeated and Louisville only having one loss that had all the commentators talking and got the bowl great national recognition last year.......Arkansas 6-5 versus Pittsburgh 8-3 (just making up an example) would not have had near the attention........basically, you are banking on dream matchups as well - UL vs. Kentucky or WVU vs. Kentucky......what if somehow it was Rutgers vs. Mississippi State? So, it can be played on both sides of that equation - Memphis versus Clemson (where TW was once coach) would sell out in a week or less.......
I'd bet you Rutgers vs. MSU would sell out in a week or less. You're trying to put a BE worst case against a CUSA best case and I'm not sure there is much of a difference. Anyhow, Trhanghese said yesterday he plans on announcing our full bowl slate in the next ten days so I expect this to be settled in short order. We'll probably play CUSA this year and SEC thereafter.

Even you give SEC teams more respect. I think you may be starting to understand why we would rather face a mid-pack SEC team than a CUSA champ.

I doubt UL would've had 4 to's against a 5th or 6th place $EC team.

first point - it would be a media graveyard as far as national interest if Rutgers and Miss State played, even if it sold out....

second point - I am not trying to do worst case - just who do you think will finish #3 in the BE? Whoever that is, put them against the SEC #6 or 7 - Syracuse versus Arkansas, UConn versus Ole Miss, Pitt versus Alabama........

last point - CUSA will never be out of the LB picture.......

not exactly - it is just a different style is all I was commenting on......basically calling it a matchup differential....if UL turns it over 4 times against a solid club that doesn't stop the clock so much by passing a lot or score as fast as a team like Boise, then they would have been in a lot more jeopardy of losing the game.......

On a related note, I'd rather the C-USA champ play the SEC #6 than the Big East #2. The only reason that I'd want to play Big East #2 is to prove on the field that the conferences are fairly equal.

Top 3 in the Big East? Louisville- We know how attractive Louisville is to the bowl, there is history. West Virginia- no question here, huge traveling fan base and tradition. PITT- National program with Dave Wendstat(sp) at the helm, much tradition and a regional power, the fans have been knocked for not traveling but the last L-Bowl they played in had great attendance. Notre Dame- I don't need to explain this one at all.

The liberty bowl has made it clear that they are shopping the bowl.

You'll be seeing the Big East #3. #2 is gator/sun.

#3 not top 3.......I'm figuring UL, WVU to usually finish 1 and 2.......as for shopping it, I don't doubt that, but they are only going to shop the MWC side, no matter what is said - they will not part with CUSA (Memphis).......at the very least, a CUSA team will always be an option - the first choice option, that way if Memphis is eligible, they can always be picked and guarantee a sell out.......

I don't think you will have to worry about the LB for a long time......regardless of if it affiliated with the BE or not........

This is a no brainer, I'd take the SEC. Which would you rather see.....Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Ole Miss or UTEP?

Playing the C-USA champ does nothing for the BE.

Two points to make regarding the bowl with Boise. A mid-pack SEC team last year would have had a LOT of trouble scoring against the Cards. My guess is less than 20 points. Boise had one of the very best offenses in the nation.

Also, some of the turnovers in question weren't just mistakes by Louisville, but were opportunities created by Boise's complex mixed-zone defensive schemes. Look at their season stats. They do that very well and very consistently. They were extremely disciplined and well coached, and I would argue they were the best team we played last year, Miami included. The only flaw in that argument is their overall lack of size, but they generally make up for that with the intangibles. They gained a lot of respect from me in Memphis.

That's BIG talk from a Memphis fan.....funny, you look down on UC and we have beaten your team four of the last five years and last year we SMOKED YOUR #$%# 49-10.....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH

Good luck against Central Florida, SMU, and Tulane....I know that makes for some GREAT football.

Since it's football season...I won't take the time to mention that we are 10-2 against you in basketball in the last 12 years...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
