I really hate to say this. But a team in the Big East needs to run the table this year. Doesn't matter what school it is, even though I would prefer it to be Pitt. For the conference to get some ounce of respect, somebody needs to. Whether it is WVU, Pitt, UL, Cincy, Syracuse...whomever. That team needs to run the table and win in their bowl game. Another conference tie for the crown could hinder the conference's growth as well as the conference in general.

I totally agree, although if one team were to run the table, I would prefer it to be Cuse, Pitt, WV or Louisville.

If one team runs the table I'd prefer it not to be Rutgers. In fact I'd hope it was Pitt or Louisville since those teams would possibly be ranked highly enough to secure a slot in the NC particularly if they are of one or two teams undefeated at the end of the season.

Too early to worry about the BCS bowl. What the Big East needs to focus on is the non conference games that are on the schedule. In the sort term it is critical as a conference to rack up some wins against the so called power conferences/teams. The big ones to look for are Pitt vs Notre Dame, Pitt vs Nebraska, West Virginia vs Va Tech, Syracuse vs Virginia, Syracuse vs Florida State, Syracuse vs Notre Dame, UConn vs Georgia Tech, Rutgers vs Illinois, Cincy vs Penn State, USF vs Penn State and USF vs Miami. The Big East can't have a bunch of "moral victories". They need to win some of these for credibility and for future BCS consideration.

Well, then, who would be able to put up a better game from CUSA?
We will probably never know.
Tell you what, would love to play Syracuse in football for the next decade.......
I also guess we will see who will put up a better showing when Memphis travels to Tennessee this year......we might win, we might lose, but we won't get trounced like Pitt did against Utah....
I think you will, maybe even worse. Surely, you are not trying to say that Memphis is a better team than Pitt. Please tell me thats not what you are trying to say. Cuse would pound Memphis as well.. Memphis is not that good. Just watch what happens this year. I am sure that SU will have a better season playing a much tougher schedule. I know Pitt will. :snore:
you sure are arrogant for a guy whose team is not really that good......ask Louisville fans if we are any good.......I'm not saying we are world beaters, but we can play - and please, don't make Pitt out to be world beaters either......it's getting really deep for that........

Your calling me arrogant? Thats funny because you are a CUSA fan on a BE board telling everyone that Memphis is better than Pitt and Cuse. Comeon man. Memphis does not instill any fear in anyone.
Why should I ask Louisville about how good Memphis is, did memphis beat Louisville or something? Maybe I should ask Cincy fans how good Memphis is. Do you think they could shed some light on this matter?
BTW, Pitt is better than anyone in CUSA, and I think Cuse could take CUSA to the woodshed.
All kidding aside though, Memphis is okay, but I am sure that Cuse could whoop them this year. We return almost everyone and many media folk think we may have the best defense in the BE this year. I know that Memphis lost a lot including their qb who I think was the impetus of your offense last year, not Hall.

However :) I do think that CFN is just trying to be "different" and they are banking that Louisville will choke in the face of the media pressure, because let's face it Louisville under John L. Smith was known for that and we did lose to Miami in a game we should have won. But I honestly think that Louisville should be rightfully favored to win the BE this year due to last years finish, the returning coaching staff and the players. But agian that is no slight to the rest of the BE it is going to be a tough road for whoever goes to the BCS bowl.
And as far as Louisville fans are concerned anything bowl in Florida is a welcome change to Memphis and Mobile, though both cities were nice to bowl in.
If they wanted to be "different", they'd pick USF.
USF will cause some trouble if they have a good qb. We have arguably the best tailback in the BE, if not then very close. But without any passing threat, its not gonna matter...

Our OOC nearly guarantees us to go 2-2 early in the season.
USF will handle UCF and FAMU, but its a tough sell to get me to believe we'll be winning in happy valley or the orange bowl.
Sagarin has hour schedule strength top 10. I think that might be high, but we're certainly top 20.
Not good for a team with only a single offensive weapon. Our traditionally great d didnt look so hot either. Still...there's a chance we'll pull some upsets :).

I have a pretty good feeling you'll be going home happy from unhappy valley. I definitely think you folks have more talent than the State Penn offense.

never said we were better, but that I would like to play both teams - I don't know if we would win or not, but we can hold our own against almost any team......I just think Memphis plays Tennessee closer because it is a rivalry game and rivalry games are almost always close even if one team stinks and the other is pretty good.....the emotions are just different......I think if UT and Pitt met in a BCS game that UT's talent would eventually show and they would win by a few scores......not saying Pitt doesn't have talent, but I think UT has some of the best talent in the country, even if it is mismanaged and underutilized......

I wasn't aware the UT and UM were rivals ala UL and UK. I always though UT's rivals were Bama and Florida, but I guess Memphis ranks up there too. Cool.

It would probably be one of those Ole Miss things were they would stress that we weren't a rival, though their fans sure spend a lot of time and energy talking about us on talk radio and writing about us on message boards......

I'm not sure Tennessee is going to have any eligible players left with all the arrests they have had.

First of all Pitt had one of the youngest teams in the nation last year so it was expected they would have ups and downs. And, no disrespect to Memphis, but if you think Tennessee would slaughter Pitt I sure as hell know that Tennessee would destroy and butcher Memphis. Memphis fans are quick to forget Cincinnati butchering and slaughtering Memphis last year. So everybody has a bad game. You see it all the time, a team has a so-so year because of youth and then they put it together the following year. Pitt should be a legit Top 15 team this year, at least Top 20 early on and blossom. This year's Pitt team could go toe-to-toe with last year's Utah team. Last year's Pitt team had to much inexperience and inconsistency due to youth.

Yet a mediocre Notre Dame team went into Tennessee and took them down. And Pitt took down Notre Dame in their house. Anything can happen.
